Not really an interesting story. But the event was a lot of fun. How did I get hooked up? I have a job here in Tijuana that puts me in contact with lots of people from all walks.

Every year there is an International Equestrian contest at Hipodromo. One of those things where the horses jump over obstacles and the riders wear breeches and velvet jackets and riding boots and that silly ass hat. And the spectators set around the arena in little tents with bar service. They also play polo, but I did not see any Polo.

One of the sponsors of the event who has his horses at Hipodromo invited me to meet him there and hang. I was not really looking forward to it. I grew up on a cattle ranch so Rodeo is more my thing. And I am not really into Mexican high society. Too elitist for me.( However, I will admit that there is nothing sexier than a rich Mexican bitch) The exhibits at the entrance did nothing to ease my fears. Right at the gate, BMW and Lincoln were selling cars. And there was an airplane broker right inside the gate.

Anyway, I had no idea what I was missing. There was some very nice snooty snatch there. The funny thing is that, due to the kickback environment, they were all actually freindly and we ended up partying with some 20 year old rich bitches until wee hours.

I am goingto go again next year. I had a blast. t was free admission, no invitations necessary. Its supposedly open to the public. But it was obvious that it ws a fairly exclusive group. And they had people at the gate turning back riffraff. But I walked in alone and nobody said a word. So I am sure even Milkman could get in. It is kind of hard to find. It is the private area of hipodromo. You enter off the back side by Jorge Hanks house.

I use to work with a guy that knew Jorge Hank.

For his wife's birthday about 12 years ago, this guy had two chartered buses take us across the border into Mexico where we were met by local motorcycle police at the border. With their lights flashing and sirens screaming they took us to (I think) the Hipodromo for lunch and after lunch a cock fight. Many of the more politically correct were agast. Jorge Hank's staff made all the arraingements

We then went to the racetrack where the feature race was named in honor of the birthday girl.

Man what a day. One local at the party was the ex-Governor of Baja. Last name "de La Madrid." Related to ex-President of Mexico. This guy was around 70 with a blond american girl who was around 21. I was told his wife had to stay home that day.

Funny that we like Mexicans women and they like Americans.

The contrast between their wealthy and poor is incredible.

Jorge Hank was there of course. That guy is strange. He is a spitting image of Hank Williams Junior. He was married to an ex miss baja california. He divorced her but she still lives in the compound at Hipodromo. He then married the ex-wife of the older brother of one of my old business partners. She is pushing 50 but man is she fine. The brother of my ex-partner then married an ex-miss Texas about 30 years his junior. These rich Mexicans live very interesting lives.

Sometimes I too would love to be a rich Mexican. But it has its down side. I personally know three people who have been kidnapped and held for ransom. Now thats not something that you see everyday in the US.
