Thanks for your report. I'm always interested in people's experiences in Subic. I guess high season is not in full swing yet. I think that's a plus from a monger's perspective. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

For those who are planning a trip to the PI and are somewhat serious divers, then I'd say Subic is a mandatory stop for 3-5 nights. You'll be wreck diving for breakfast, Johann's gourmet restaurant for lunch and bar girls for dinner. Not to sound like a dive snob, but the visibility can be very limited in Subic which may disappoint casual divers or those who only like perfect diving conditions.

What I like best about Subic is nearly everyone thinks it's not worth visiting and that explains your girl to guy ratio which matches my experience. You're spot on about whether you can make that work or not, especially since the percentage of girls who are lookers in the bars is favorable compared to AC as well. Try reading some other reports about Subic and most of your questions will be answered.

As to how you can fly direct, that's a pretty broad question (fly direct from where?), but as far as I know you can't.

Several airlines fly direct to AC so google them yourself and stop being lazy. There's heaps of 1 hour transport options to Subic, so you might as well combine destinations and book a ride when you get there.

In the future please do some basic googling and read the reports people have gone through the trouble to create before making demands for information.

I agree with you about Johann's. Great food, best in Subic IMO and great dive staff, for wreck dives. Do not come to dive reefs. The rooms are not good at all and quite pricey.

I think the best overall deal for lodgings is VIP apartments. My last Subic report has details.

I thought Major Major had been around this site for a while, but he definitely has not done his philippines research.

Subic Bay International Airport (SFS) is not much of an airport according to WIKI. The terminal only has two jetways. FED-EX closed thier SUBIC hub in 2009 and efforts to close the airport are underway.

Expedia reported NO FLIGHTS between Manila. Cebu Pacific Air does not have it on their route map. You may have to charter plane or helicopter from Manila if you really want to fly.

Bigpoppa may have underestimated the surface travel time significantly. FLY-THE-BUS from Subic to Manila was about four hours and it could take another hour to reach the airport. Even a taxi charter would need several hours, especially when Manila traffic is fucked up. One hour car rides from Angeles City to Subic Freeport is nominial, the luxury bus takes a little longer.

Not to be argumentative, but it's one hour from Angeles City to Subic. You're correct though, it is about 4 hours from Manila to Olongapo by bus on the Victory Liner.

I've approached Subic both ways and should I return I'd definitely go to AC first for a night or two as taxi+bus+trike to AC is 2 hours and unlike Subic there is good daytime action to be had.

After 12+ hours flying from the US to Manila, I'd much rather be hiding pink in brown 3 hours after being in country then having another hour of bus riding to go heading to Subic and then have to wait until 8PM or later for a good selection of women.

My sweetie took victory liner from Pasay station (near airport) to Olongapo City and it took damn near six hours for her to arrive.

If you want a really crazy way to reach AC, try the LRT from airport terminal three to Monumento then walk a block to the Victory Liner terminal. That avoids Manila surface traffic jams.

Ah the perennial Subic Bay cleanliness debate. When there has been significant rain all the trash washes down from the hills into the bay. That being the case, any beach in the PI with downhill flowing streams would have to be the same as Filipinos hold world littering records.

The better properties clean this up and on a sunny day it's not that bad, but I'll agree it's not where I would go for a beach holiday. But AC is even dirtier any day and can give LA a run for the money in smog.

Why would you go? Why not? Heading to AC in a couple of months....been curious about Subic Bay, not necessarily for mongering but rather due to the fact that outside whoring there is not much to do in AC. Based on the collective reports it seems like the water is pretty polluted, but I guess still sounds like an interesting change in venue.

Subic Bay is popular because it is so damned easy to reach from Angeles City, it is very inviting to westerners because of the naval base legacy and it has reasonably good mongering.

If you want to SCUBA, the Puerto Galero area is said to be phenomonal and easily accessible from Manila.

If you already have a honey selected for your beach vacation, the 100 Islands area or Borocay would be a lot more fun.

Most members of this board just want to fuck as many girls as they can fit into a vacation and rarely wander beyond Angeles City.

Before the USN moved out after the Mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991, Subic was one of the best venues in the PI for mongering with BF's for 5 USD or less. The percentage of tourists was small as much of the culture involved military guys stationed there or on leave. It was a wild scene in it's heyday but never really bounced back and likely never will.

The nightspots in nearby Olongapo on Magsaysay Drive cater mainly to the locals. I have taken a few Angeles honey's for a day or two but wouldn't consider it anymore than a complementary trip as Ruan has expressed. I'm not into scuba unless you count muff diving but jet skiing can be fun there. The bay is so polluted I wouldn't advise swimming in it. Surely you can pull a gem here and there but you'll likely invest a lot more time in the hunt than the more popular destinations.
