Just a quick update from my February Thai trip.


FLIGHTS:

Having tried the Arab airlines with their state-of-the-art equipment, I am back to ANA and sweat by it. Yes, their Boeing 777s are getting long in the tooth, but the service and management is still the best, and Narita is still the best airport you can transfer at with showers and rent by the hour sleeping rooms. A shower was $16 for 20 minutes and felt great because I also carried a new set of underwear to change into.

I only booked the flith 5 days in advance and got a great price, plus a seat with nobody else in the row, so I got to stretch out and sleep the whole time. You can't do that when you reserve months in advance. Travelocity will let you pick your seat and see which rows are empty, but the empty seats will fill up by the time you fly. Not so when you book just a few days in advance. If a flight looks half empty then, it will probably stay that way.

This was the first time I was forced through the TSAs backscatter cancer machines. I declined and got a courtious pat-down. No groin touching, thank God.


HOTELS:

Amari Atrium ($55/night)
My favorite on this trip and a real discovery. This joint is located in the North, about a $2 cab ride from Nana. This is a bit of an inconvenience, but this area is full of soapies, the price is amazing for the quality you get, and the reception couldn't care less about checking your visitors. They never asked for an ID.

Amari Boulevard ($66/night)
This place is at the heart of the action and has a superb lobby. At this rate, however I could only stay in the old wing on a lower floor. The new wing would have cost at least 90.

Chateau de Bangkok ($80/night)
This is five star and a bargain at that, being walking distance from Nana and other joints. They hit you with an extra $6/day for the use of their shitty internet connection which falls off every 10 minutes. I would not stay again.

Hotel Vista Pattaya ($70/night)
A bit overpriced and not well laid out, at least it is close to the beach and has a glass wall on the shower so you can watch your girl from the room as she cleans up. I would probably not stay again.


ACTION:

Nana and Pot Pong are still the best choices for go-go girls. The standard price is 4000/night or 2000 short time, but I pulled a 2000/night deal with a hot newbie from the top floor of Nana as well as a 3000/night with a super hot girl from pot pong after midnight. I should especially mention the Rainbow bars at Nana and the Fantasia bar on the second floor with its hot, barely legal short time teens.

Freelance was a new discovery on this trip. I pulled the best girl from the Beergarden. Most of the women here are pedestrian looking, but there are some hot ones. I spent 10 whole days with this one and am still in touch with her.

Gulliver's Travels at Soi 5 and the lobby bar at the Hyatt also deserve mention. The Bed Supper Club is now a thing of the past. No locals go there; it is a waste of time. The new club of choice is the MiXX. It has freelancers, but they are picky.

I had no luck at the Pattaya go-gos. They are arrogant and charge as much as 1200 for barfine. What a joke. I had better pulls at the beer bars which have very nice girls. Once girl I pulled at a go-go looked great in the dark inside but looked like shit once I saw her outside. Beer bars are better lit and safer.

Club Eden is still as good as ever and has some new faces, even a younger girl. I visited Dr BJs, which is new an also on Soi 7 1/2. You get your dick washed and blown for 20 minutes for 1000.

Tulip Massage was a huge let down. Crappy action delivered by some of the ugliest hags in BKK. The facilities remind you of an Iraqi emergency shelter. Stay away!

Finally, the best massage place still is the one just right of Club Eden. I had Thai massage for two hours, than a body scrub which ended with a hand job for a total of 1200 plus some tip to the woman. Great massage and very accommodating staff.


FOOD:

I had a terrible food poisoning from the Indians at Soi 3. I am done with these people and also street food. From now on, I'm sticking to Siam Center joints. I also had a full dinner with desert and a cocktail at the Hard Rock cafe and marvelled at how tasty everything was. Expensive but some of the best in BKK. At Pattaya, I ate at the Hilton mall. It is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The quality does not meet BKK standards.


HEALTH:

This was my first time having surgery at Bumrungrad. It was a fairly involving 60 minute plastic surgery to revise an ugly scar. I saved a bundle and was blown away by the kindness and patience of the whole staff. It is too early to tell how the wound will heal, but it is looking very promising so far. I think Bumrungrad is a superb deal and without any shortcuts on the quality.


ECONOMICS:

I blew $5700 for this trip, which took up all of February. Since I am a consultant, I can take as much time as I can afford to miss, which is great. Next year, I am taking both January as well as February. Fuck the Winter.

The best Punjabi-style Indian food in Bangkok is Namuuskar, soi 8, hands down. Everyplace else is hit or miss, mostly miss. I brought a friend from the Punjab there the other night and he was thrilled with the quality and authenticity of the food.

Update:

Bad news. Two weeks after returning from BKK, I discovered STD symptoms. I had some antibiotics and fought it but soon ran out and had to go to the doctor. The bottom line is, I picked up not one but TWO(!) STDs in one trip and purely from unprotected oral contact. I have never contracted anything via oral and have never heard of anybody contracting two infections at the same time this way.

The first thing was some tropical bacterial infection that antibiotics clear easily. The second infection is candida, a yeast infection that has to do with antibiotics destroying the natural bacterial balance of the body. In any case, this has lead to two months of fear and struggle, plus a combined medical bill of about 700 US, and I am still not fully done.

I am sure I got these at Dr. BJs. I should have thought of the dangers at such high traffic places. No more short time girls or BBBJs for me. The scariest thing is, even a detailed STD test would not have revealed either of these infections and I would have got them even if I had all my girls tested. The truth is, I personally know mongers who contracted herpes, HPV and gonorrhea purely from oral, so I should have expected this.

I now think, if you are going to do oral without a condom, don't do it with a short time girl. It is also useful to carry antibiotics and give some to your favorite girl before you take a risk. I now have enough antibiotics to kill a 300 pound gorilla and will always carry some, but I don't think I will ever bareback again without a full doctor's exam of the girl.

Guys who go bareback have had STDs, whether they know it or not. You cannot bareback 100+ prostitutes and not get one. Many guys get STDs without ever being symptomatic. This is especially true for HPV. As there is no test for HPV in males, nor any treatment, odds are you wouldn't know. But HPV is epidemic in all populations, not just hookers. I would guess that if you've barebacked more than two times with hookers, the odds are extremely high that you've had HPV. It tends to clear naturally over time with males, and in a majority of cases is asymptomatic, so you would never know you had it, unless you infected someone else and learned that way. Many a divorce has been precipitated by a wife's coming down with HPV.

The argument about condoms not being effective is baseless. I used a condom for over two decades for everything and never had a problem. I was also tested recently for herpes and am negative, despite BBBJs from at least 100 women (bad boy!).
