First time monger & in colombia, decided to check Colombia out after reading tons of informative reports from everyone. I give back to this board. this report will be long on the detail, i hope to give a good observation about what i saw and experiences. So please no flames about being long winded. You been warned!!! :-)

Intro
I been learning spanish via Pimslur & Michael Thomas CD for 4 weeks prior to my trip. By the time I arrive last weekend, I was able to ask for direction, price, etc., but not talk with chicks without a dictionary. So I decide to use the marriage angency to setup dates to get my feet wet and practice spanish.

Day 1 Fri
Arrive from LA-Miami to Cali in the evening, on the plane i meet two guy from abroad visiting their chicas in Cali. So got some basic info. Went thru customs, got the tax stamp as recommend by previous reports. When I exit the airport, the agency translator and my first date meet me and took me back to the apartment, in zona flora. Freshen up then went to eat in avenieda sexta, now that was a culture shock. I thought avenieda sexta was like Santa Monica in LA or north beach in SF (iīm from CALIfornia), it NOT!! It remind me of Tijuana, streets are bad and itīs dirty. But looks are decieving, because itīs completely safe. During dinner, i was able to converse with help of dictionary ok with my date (she spoke no english). However, once we went to a bar, with no lights and loud music. I couldnīt see the dictionary, therefore communicate with the chica stop. (observation - a basic understanding of spanish is require, no news here!) NO mongering

Day 2 (Sat)

Went on 3 dates, thank goodness itīs during day, so i could use the dictionary. Went to Chipichape for the first time and WOW!!! every report is on the money, MUCHO MUY BONITA CHICAS HOTHOTHOT. As I was sitting talking with my date got several looks from passerby. Finish three dates and call it a night. Was still intimidate by lack of spanish to venture to avendia sexta or pick up pros. So I went to Hollywood Casino check out the non-pros and gamble. I thought maybe i could play next to some non-pro, and talk, but since i only play blackjack, most chica that were at the tables had boyfriends. Not like Vegas. Most single chicks play slots or roulette.
(WARNING: Blackjack in Colombia is big different than states, rules are weird) But with help from some friendly local hombres, i caught on, and won 200k peso. Talk with Felix Franco (guide recommend by other mongers), but he couldnīt help me out, because some rich gringo hire him for 1 week for cali & Cartegena. End the day without Mongering

Day 3 (sun)

Had 2 dates with angency girls during the day. Decide that i need to explore more, so before the dates, i got a taxi and had him drive me around to check out Hotel Aparte Del Rio (recommended by Mustang) and Hotel Don Jaime. Don Jaime wanted 97k peso plus 20k peso for guest, so decide on Hotel Aparte Del Rio 81k no problem with guest, but no room safe, rooms are nice and spacious. Decide to move from apartment(no AC) to Hotel(AC). Taxi driver was a good guy, patch together eenough spanish to ask about prostitute. He didnīt know any casa, but he went to ask other drivers for me(thatīs what I call good service). Turns out, there are 2 casa on the same street as Hotel Aparta Del Rio. I thinks itīs been mention, itīs about 2 blocks down toward meyer institute, the first one has some eygeptian theme (pharoah i think) and next one is next building.
Decide to pass, since it was during the day and i had dates. After dates, check out Vieja Tiena the salsa club. Colombian sure dance good. Head to Aveneida Sexta to check out the scene. DEAD on Sunday. Head to Karen Pizza near Chipichapa for late dinner. next to Karen Pizza is a Bar, start talking to local hombres including the bar owner, great guys. Told them I was Cali for 3 nights and didnīt find chicas yet, ask them where the chica casa are, and what the cost. The owner (willfred) call his brother to man the bar, then drove me to a Casa near there, (12:30 AM), only 3 chicas, one was OK (karen), i thought was a 6 or 7. price is 40k peso/hour inhouse, negotiage 2 hrs back at the apartament (100k), the casa people drove me and the chica back, pop cialas. my buddy took his girl in the house. Once got back to the house, spend 40 mins chatting (trying to learn spanish), I started noticing, that she was on the heavy side. DAMM those colombian jeans, they really hide the glams!!! after show and doing it, the girl call her ride and pick left. I would not call her again, without clothes and in the light sheīs a 4. After 6 dates with agencies girls and being a gentlemen, a got some action at least.

Day 4 (mon)

Move from the apartment to hotel aparta del rio, call my taxi driver buddy (jose). He pick me up and shows me 5 casa business cards (great customer service). Head to chipichape after moving in for lunch, the mall is kinda of dead on weekdays. Walk around the hotel area to check out non-pros going to work or school. Went check email a 007 interent cafe near hotel, a really cute clerk was checking me out big time, but DAMM!!! my spanish wasnīt good enough to work it her, beside her whole family was checking me out so had to be a gentlemen. ARGG!! I might go back later this week if my spanish get betters. Went to Caligrand Casino to gamble, won 300k peso, but more importmently meet up with a local guy Jose, works for the national bank and spoke decent english. Invited him to dinner to learn more about cali, girls, & spanish. He has a friend that semi-pro, young, cute, he tried to call her but she wasnīt around. So we head to the 2 casa near my hotel, the 1st one Pharaoh, sucks. There was maybe 5 or 6 girls none of them are my taste, maybe one girls was good(black, slim, attractive). didnīt even bother to ask price. went next door they had 10 or 12 girls, my buddy and i were the only customers, the girls dress in binki come up and shake your hand. Saw 3 girls that fit my taste (light skin, slim, good face), but the manager want 50k per hour inhouse and 80k for outcall, I counter with 80k for 2 girls, one ofor my buddy inhouse. told him lets be fair and split the difference 90k for 2 or 45k each. He refuse, i called his bluff and walk out. Remeber, cali is a buyer city, there are tons of chica and casa. no sense overpaying for standard chica. Call my taxi buddy and hi took me to this other place (iīll put the name when i find the card). Itīs around the hotel intercontinental area. decent interior, i was the only one there, he brought out 10 girls 3 of them i would pick. End up picking Valerie, blond, awesome face, decent body (i thought). Got a price of 100k for 2 hrs back at hotel plus taxi money. (observation: when thereīs no customer, 3 girls would lay in the rooms in dark either sleeping or chatting, no tv, music or anything to help them pass the time. Kinda weird way of working. Anyway, brought her back, talk for 40 mintues hoping to get her to loosing up. then when she didnīt (no kissing allow) i figure let take a shower and get this over with. DAMM colombian jeans Again!!! yes, this look good with jeans on, but when she took it off, i saw major stretch mark and caesaren scar. Cialas was still working from last night, so i took some time to pop.
kick her out with time to spare, gave her 5k peso for taxi. I would recommend the casa, but not th echica. the 2 managers were very accommadating, work with me on price and tried to make me feel at home. Iīm going to check the casa during the day from now on, i have a theory that the non single mother work the day shift, while the single mom works the night shift.

Day 5 (Tues)

Call my taxi buddy to drive to airport (30k peso), took off for couple of days to cartegena before coming back to call. Arrive in Cartegana, check the san martin, but they had no room safe, rate is 86k per night. finally check into Hotel Charlotte they have safe, no chica fee, for 125k per night. Meet a fellow gringo from LA, cool guy, offer to buddy up mongering with me, but i want to explore on my own for a bit, so i pass. Cartegena is kinda dead on a weekday during the day. Didnīt partake in the beach scene. Went gambling and got to know one of the dealer. nice non-pro, and meet a local who has couple of apartment for rent, want 120k per night, next to juanīs building near LDV and hilton, he knows some local chica also. I walk around checking the non-pros scene, kinda dead during weekday. I guess you could hit on the sales clerk, but i figure iīm not in cartegena long enough. had a date with the casino girl after work (midnight) we went for coffee/drinks at Cafe de Mar on top of the old fort. Nice area to take a date. Practice spanish with her, sheīs nice girl, works 6 days a week and goes to school, so was gentlemen. too tire from long day to go to LDV.
At least by the now my spanish improve tremendously because hardly no local speak english. Actually it was good, because it force to learn quickly. in 5 days in cali never ran into fellow gringos, tried to get the taxi to take me to martin or martini bar, but know taxi knows where it is. ARGG!!!

Day 6 (wed)

Move into a condo pink building for 100k per night for 2 bedroom condo, not bad, it on san martin but closer to the San Martin hotel than LDV. explore cartegena some more then had a date with an agency girl, i want to meet non-pros and practice spanish. freaking chick picks restaurant in santa domingo, sheīs definitely a money grubber, place was expensive by colombian standard (85k peso for 2 or about 35 or 40 dollars). Meet up with my casino girl again after she got off of work. Bocagranda is dead on the weekday. Did checkout LDV around 1am saw 20 or 30 girls, but hardly any guy. no one was dancing, kinda of intimidating walking in with so many girls sizing you up. now i know how chicks in USA feel at some clubs. Taxi driver kept recommend Playboy, probably because itīs not in bocagrande so they get more taxi fare.
(WARNING: Yellow Cab Driver tend to try scamming tourist more, i had it happen 3 times in 2 days. first time i forgot to ask a fare BEFORE i got in, drove me from Charlotte to LDV and charge 6k, i said WTF, he just shrugg, paid and gave him dirty look. Turns out my local buddy knows him and when ask why he scam me, the taxi driver just said he looks like he can afford it. the 2nd time i, i ask the fare, he told me 4k when we arrived, i gave him 20k and ask for change, first he gives me 5k back, i said change, gives me another 5k back, i said change again, gives me 2k back. then refuse to give me more. so it was a 8k fair for 5 blocks. ARRG!!! Cali taxi drivers are definitely more honest. So have small change and always ask before you get in)

Iīm heading back to cali tomorrow for 6 days, to sample the casa during the day and meet non-pros from my new local friends. any gringos in town, lets hook up for a beer.

I always give the girls serious look-overs and note details - teeth, waist, fat tucked away, smokers, children... you need the language to learn all of these details - don't leave it to chance.

I read that Cialis takes up to 1-2 hours to start working after taking it - you can't just pop it and expect results in the hour. And it lasts well over a day - so pop it ahead of needing it.

The casa girls are on average quite below par - 3s 4s and 5s. Of course there's gems hidden away (and I do like searching for them) but you can't just hit a house and expect a hottie. Go to FF or Kaliente for a sure thing.

But I always have great results with dates and nonpro bar pickups.

Interesting that you would pick Cali as a first-time mongering destination! I wonder what GF would say ;-)

Why didn't you do Rio or San Jose or B.A? Or was it the lure of nonpro dates? That's what does it for me!

Day 6 (cont)

Sorry for the bad english, iīm writing my reports in the internet cafe, and iīm not proofreading it.

Tried an independent girls in cartegena, cost was 60$US for 2 hrs or full day for 150USD, only did 2hrs, she was well worth the money, total GFE, no rush, good english, classy. she was a semi-pro, student, store clerk,(iīll post deatil & contact info later). meet up with a fellow gringo buddy for dinner, met another gringo, his first time in cartegena also. he was there for the girl and to do sailing. The three of us headed over to playboy club(ask any taxi drivers), the place is in a crappy area outside of bocagrande, past the old city. inside the club there were about 15 girls (4 are 8-9īs, the rest 7-8īs) but they cost $USD 130 for a night. too expensive, so we left and head over to another casa near there called Manila House (Bosque Transv. 49N 21B96, tele 672 2794). itīs a house that has a gate outside and iron doors, kinda of like a house in the gettho, but it was safe. My buddy use them many times before, the mamasan knew him well. We walk thru the house down to a patio area where about 9 or 10 girls were sitting around. 3 of the chicas were a definite 8, 3 were 7 and the remaining 5 or 6. The price was 60k peso for mamasan, then 200k for girl for a full day. If you like the girl, my friend say just work sometime out with her, so she doesnīt need to go back to mamasan. that way you donīt have to pay barfine. One my buddy took out a hot blond a definite 8, he was so stoke. the other buddy took out a 7, since i had to fly back to cali early in the morning, so i didnīt take any. I wished i new about that place a few days earlier. next time i come back to CTG, iīll use them again. a note of caution, when youīre ready to leave, have the house call for the taxi. donīt go out trying to flag on down.
Itīs great if you like to get a girlfriend for a few days. My buddy took out 2 girls the day before, and just hang out with them.
One thing iīm noticing is that in most of these casa, the chicks just sit around looking bored. so i guess itīs easy to negotiate long term deals. iīm going to try that for cali, nothing like having a tour guide and langauge teacher at your finger tips.

FLH, iīm kinda of an advantureous traveler, friendly, like making new friends both locals and others. so picking cali was a not a big deal. of course it was VERY beneficial and informative to have background info from yourself, godfather, and others. of my two buddy, one of them has been in CTG eight times (3 or 4 times a year) so he also took me around. i return the favor by getting them really excited about Cali and this board. Recruiting other to the brotherhood!
I agree with everyone about colmbia being very good for nonpro, if you speak decent or better spanish. Iīm not there yet, but hope to get there with more practice, but in the meantime, i can just "pay" for special spanish lessons. I think thatīs more valuable than salsa, because if you speak well they can see youīre a smart, nice, culture, funny person. You canīt tell them that by dancing salsa. To them we are better than the local guys who donīt travel, or treat them as nice.

Glad you had fun Slug. It sounds like you are the adventurous type. The great thing about this board is it helps guys that are new to traveling to a particular area feel like he has an upper edge. Helping one another is what it's all about.

While I wouldn't pick Cali as a first time destination it IS a good place to go if you can speak some Spanish. The city I mentioned several times and by others is not a pretty city. Very ugly in fact. There isn't much to do during the day.

I'm glad you had fun though. I doubt Cali will ever be a destination full of gringos. And that ain't bad at all.

I'm from Cali and it sounds as if you probably needed somebody to guide you around. Cali is definetely the place to be, nice girls all around, the city is kind of dead from mondays to wednesdays but there is always a place to go during those days. E.g Juanchito is always opened and the rumba there is great, the area isn't that good but once you get inside the discos you'll have alot of fun. The recommended places are.. Chango, Guarare, Don Jose and if you want to find an 'easy girls' Senegal is the place. On thursdays depending on the type of music you like "ESCALONA" is the place, Vallenato all night but the scenery is magnificent, the rating of the girls that go there is from 8 upwards. If you want the best "Casa de citas" Flores frescas is the best one in Cali, girls are gorgeous and the prices are from 90 for half an hour upwards.
Weekends.. well anywhere you go you'll have a good time. if you want to find gringos in Cali, you'll see a few in la SEXTA in a bar called "EL VIEJO BARRIL"
I hope this helps people that plan to go to Cali and my advice is to find somebody to guide you. How? just go into a good hotel and ask where you can hire an interpreter or a guide, they won't charge much, offer them around $50000 plus meals and drinks and they'll be happy with that.
