First trip to Medellin, first report on Club Hombre. Many thanks to RadioMan for his Street Chica reports, Cubanut for his photos. They are largely responsible for my going to Medellin. Thanks also to Sandman for meeting with me and giving me the lowdown on Medellin. There are very few mongers I actually learn from--you are one of them.

I'm not seeing how to post the photos into the body of the trip report, so I'll email them to the webmaster and hope they make it on the board.

This was posted on Costaricaticas.com and pretty much sums up my 21 days in Medellin:

This is the trip report that wasn't supposed to be. It was decided. I wasn't going to publicize Medellin. Why should I? What the hell was the upside? Granted, Medellin is no secret, and I, certainly no pioneer. There are a hundred reports here on Club Hombre, on ISG, information abounds. But it's not Costa Rica yet, is it? No, it's not "the beaten path." What would happen if/when the monger army discovers Medellin? Screw that, the last thing I wanted was that battalion of overspenders phucking up the landscape and price structure. Let them find out for themselves.

This coming from a "Johnny Come Lately" to Colombia, but with near 20 years of trips to Costa Rica. I know whereof I speak. Believe this, Good Reader: Medellin is, hands down, superior to Costa Rica. KO in the first round. Jordan over Ehlo, yes!

So why the report? Long talks with Robert and Boyd at El Castillo wised me up. It didn't matter. Change is INEVITABLE. No single report would make a difference. The army was coming. In fact, the army was here. My own arrival was testiment to the fact. A year before, Medellin wasn't exactly on my itinerary. Then came the reports from Wall Streeter, RadioMan...the Paisas had classical beauty, white skin more European than Latin. Prices were cheaper than Costa Rica and far cheaper to Rio. So, why not go?

Could it be the U.S. State Department warnings about continuing political instability? About FARC terrorist attacks? About waring drug cartels, frequent and random street violence? Could it be the many posts telling of ex-Escobar assassins who had purchased taxi cabs and made a habit of IDing foreigners, bringing them to gun-wielding thugs who would blow you away if you didn't reveal ATM codes, draining your bank account, keeping you prisoner in a chicken-wire cage, fed pig instestines, with constant threats of mutilation if you didn't call home to drain tens of thousands from loved ones who would receive fingers and toes in the mail and you, the woebegone monger, finally delivered up to the pain of death, your remains undiscovered, your fate a mystery for all time!

I'll get to the chica part in a minute, but let me say this for first timers: LEAVE THE PARANOIA BEHIND.

I have never shaken a cabbie's hand in Costa Rica. Ladrones! They won't turn the meter on, they take the long way around or blatently giving wrong change and expect you to accept it. In Colombia, I must have shaken a dozen cabbie's hands. The assassins had taken the week off. In fact, they took my entire 21 days off. This was a microcosm of the whole trip. There is MISINFORMATION about safety out there, people.

A quick non-monger overview: You need to know that Medellin is a cosmopolitan, world-class city. It is home to the world-class art of Botero. Centro is absolutely littered with great sculpture. There are top notch restaurants that could rival anything in New York. Parque Lleras square with its high-cielinged bars would fit in--and blow away--anything on the Lower East Side. Sometimes with brilliant greens and yellows, restaurants like Las Palmitas make it feel like Miami Beach, like you're in a Micheal Mann flick (Miami Vice, perhaps) There are several different looks to the city. Poblado, nestled in the hills, is very Berverly Hills. Exclusive, ritzy shops and mall. Real estate has tripled in a year. Ride down Avenida Poblado to see the boom. Centro is salt of the earth, smaller shops remind one of downtown San Jose. There's a vitality. Great place to catch a local meal, check out the action in Parque Bolivar (where the Botero sculptures are). Further up the hill, and definitely recommended, is the Santo Domingo area. Take the Metrocable up (stop: Acevedo). It's another world up there. Poor folks, small tin-roof homes. Can I tell ya, NEVER felt danger. They are somehow fascinated by Americans. They look at us with curiosity and a sense of civic pride. Did I like Medellin? What did I think of their city? I felt responsible for my words and actions, a goodwill Ambassador. I think they know and like that the image of their city is changing. 20 years ago, in the bad old Escobar days, people like Pauly Vegas would smply not be walking their barrio. It's all new and exciting. Part Beverly Hills, part Miami Beach, part lower east side Manhattan...but please, no rose-colored glasses. Medellin is safe(R), not Swisserland. A chica described to me how her father was murdered in a drug-related killing. She scraped up $150 and had the killer killed. Pretty much sums up Medellin. If you stay in Poblado, chances are unlikely you'll see the dark side. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Keep your head on a swivel. DON'T BE THE UGLY AMERICAN.

Some odds n ends, recommendations for first timers:

HOTEL:

I had scoped out--through Sandman at Club Hombre--an alternative to El Castillo. My plan was to spend the first week getting the lay of the land, then shift down to Mayorista for cheaper digs. But a funny thing happened on the way to Mayorista...my room at El Castillo began to grow on me. As did the fraternity of people there. Boyd, the jeffe, had told me to add up the extras you got with El Castillo: Free internet service, free local and international calls, free breakfasts (I already miss my "normal, pequena desayuna" of 4 eggs, 2 pancakes, toast and fresh juice), daily maid service, and lastly, free laundry. They charge $1 a sock here, Dora and the rest of the great staff doing my laundry DAILY. Didn't even have to ask them. So, bottom line, I stayed. Where you gonna get better value for $55 per night? Not to mention Boyd's Centro massage parlor tour? Here's another tip: Take Boyd's recommendations on chicas. He was right 95% of the time. Through him I found JULIETTE, sex maniac extraordinaire (see photos) and many others.

RESTAURANTS:

Las Palmitas: must do.

El Ranchon: great "tipico" plate of Colombian food.

Food Court, Oviedo: I know, cheesy. But the steak at Texas House is amazing. Not to mention late-night pepperoni pizza at Dominos. After all that phucking, 2 to 1 says you'll eat there before your week is out.

REAL ESTATE:

Lots of mongers talking about buying on that Castillo porch. Topic #1. Me too, thinking about it at least. Visited a two-flat in Santo Domingo, live upstairs, rent the downstairs. Stunning view of the valley and red-tiled houses. Price: 30,000$. Itagui, Envigado, Bello, all options. 30-50K gets you a place. Is it something for you? What happens if the political climate changes? If a Chavez-type comes to power and takes a dislike to Americans-who-Phuck-Colombiana-hos? What happens if the bad old days return? You'll need to add up all the factors before making a decision. That's what I'm doing. Now removed from the almost overwhelming scene, I'm letting the Honeymoon end. Let's see how I feel in two months. Right now, buying a place, for me--definite possibility.

OK, can we get to the phucking NOW?!?

Put simply as possible, there are three scenes here: Massage parlors, strip clubs, street action. Let's break them down by $$ and location:

MASSAGE PARLORS:

There are dozens of massage parlors--called "casas"--operating day and night. "Low-end" casas like GEISHAS, BELLE SUITE, or NEW LIFE charge $25 for an hour. "Specials" include "trios" with two girls, or delivery service, where for a bit more they drop off the chica like a pepperoni pizza. You can also get the girl's cell # and arrange a "cita" between you.

"Mid-level" joints like ENERGY, BLUE ROOM, or ABYDOS charge $40 per, have better "ninas" and better facilities. "High-end" places like LOUTRONS charge $75 per and, supposedly, have the stunners.

One of the great things about Medellin is the message parlor "presenting the ninas" ritual. You sit in a torn-up lounger like a peanut M & M as the duena says: "We have 7 girls today. Shall I present them?" You shake an aristocratic yes and the duena vanishes, soon to be followed by the presentation of the ninas. One by one they emerge, just heels and lingerie in the low-end joints, in the mid & up joints, a loose white shirt--looking like a short doctor's smock--silky and buttoned loosely. The girl struts in, pronounces her name, with a single twirl shows you the merchandise by unbuttoning the shirt, twirls a second time and the shirt is rebuttoned, leaving by saying, "con permisso." CON PERMISSO!?!!!! In Costa Rica you walk in, usually to a sala of bored and bedragged gorditas watching a soap opera. Man, there's no style in that! Loved loved loved the MP ritual...

LOW END MP'S:

If you get a chance, take Boyd's tour. "Low end" refers to price. 50K(25$) is common for 1 hour. You can go 1/2 hour for less, or grab two chicas for a bit more. The terms "low-end" is laughable. Compared to Costa Rica...well, there IS no comparison. Places like AIFFE, BELLE SUITE, NEW LIFE utterly blow away joints like 747 or CHACHACHA or MUSES where gordita after gordita plays with her cellphone or watches soap opera. It's the reverse in Colombia. You rarely see a gordita, even in the low end joints. Places I'd specifically recommend are:

BELLE SUITE: Home to TLN sex maniac queen JULIETTE, though perhaps not for long. Told me she's getting tired of the scene and may move on. Look for ISABELLA if she's not there. Physically much like Juliette, very passionate and funny. Definite Pauly V recommenedation.

About JULIETTE. Never known anyone like her. Self-described sex addict. With her it's all night, every night. Price, somehow, has nothing to do with it. She had her father's killer killed--Juliette probably someone you do not want to Phuck with. But to Phuck, oh yes...........3 or 4 TLNs(toda la noches) at El Castillo, Room 5. Apocolyptic sessions. She'd bring her own music, a bathing suit, though diving headfirst down a slide into a freezing pool probably isn't a Heart Healthy idea. Nor was the boozing. When I wouldn't drink the Ron Medellin rum she pounded she made us take a taxi to Parque Lleras to get a to-go pitcher of sangria so I could drink with her all night. 3am came and went and the promised sleep never happened. I'd turn off lights only to have her roll over to me..."can you pass me the vibrator."

NEW LIFE: CAMILLA and ASTRID are the plays. Astrid will come over on off days or nights for TLN. Camilla is a spinner who will have you humming Beethoven's 9th in ecstatic bliss.

AIFFE: SHUMARA, hands down. Powerful spinner, totally loveable. There is no equivalent at New Fantasy, Arcardas or Oasis.

KAMA SUTRA: Another CAMILLA reigns here. Blonde with an incredible ass. Have you ever looked at the woman you're phucking and say to yourself: "What am I doing phucking this woman? I am SOOO out of my league!" This happens often in Medellin and did with Camilla.

All these places are on Boyd's walking tour, all within a two block radius of each other. Look for Scooby's Medellin Guide for all addresses, though a good starting point would be Belle Suite, Carerra 45, 56-45. Tell the cabbie to drop you at "Centro y Peru". Get cards from all massage parlors and clubs so you can just hand it to the cabbie.

Other low-end joints you'll want to check out are MIEL Y CANELA, SAMSARA, SEXI, GEISHAS, VENUS.

MID-RANGE MPS:

ABYDOS ruled this trip. Two tremendous girls there, KAREN and MARIANA.

Street girls have ChicaWeb. They know shit you did with other chicas. They know who you've been with. They know if you showed their photo to another girl, who happens to be a friend. Small world out there in Mayorista. There is street girl jealousy. JENNI will tell you to keep away from ALEJANDRA, who tells you nasty stuff about NATALIA. It's all about $$$ and all quite amusing.

MP girls have to make a living too. So when you find yourself with two girls at ABYDOS, it gets to be quite the competition. Went with KAREN first, classical beauty at 21, longlean lines. MARIANA, at 18, was the classic spinner with a curious homelife: She has a husband who knows nothing of her second life at Abydos. How the hell does she manage to keep him in the dark? And why in the biz? The girl loves sex. Could that be reason enough? I would try to balance these two, who are "friends" but competitors. Capitalist principle: Competition is GOOD FOR THE CONSUMER!!! To have these two beautiful women calling to ask when they could come over to El Castillo, ridiculous wealth.

ENERGY, not much luck here, though everything is relative. KAREN is gorgeous, naturally busty. There is a large lineup here, though I had bad luck my two visits only seeing 4 girls. MP's in Colombia, you should know, are VERY hit n miss. Don't give up. Return to the MP a different day, at a different time. You'll be glad you did.

Don't forget to check out BLUE ROOM, CASSANDRAS too.

HIGH-END MPS:

Went to LOUTRONS twice, disappointed both times. Saw nothing there that justified its rep as the top-talent joint in town. That doesn't mean the next time over I wouldn't find Aphrodite! It means the two times I went there was nothing there. If I'm paying $75 per hour (that's the top price in town for ANY female, CRT mongers, "cien" doesn't exist)...then I want the Goddesses. You should go and check for yourself.

Had better luck at LINDA'S CHICAS, which if I'm not mistaken (with Cassandras) is the only night-time MP option in town. MARCELA is a certified sex maniac who Pauly Vegas had to throw out of his room after phucking 3X in 3 hours. She wanted an all-nighter but the all-nighter before with Juliette made this a non-option. What, you can't go back to back nights without sleep phucking non-stop.

No, I can't...

STRIP CLUBS

There is no Hotel Del Rey in Medellin. No single watering hole with 200+ females looking to redefine the roles of shark and hunter, predator and prey. Instead, the saavy pervert--er, sex tourist--gets a shitload of free agent phone numbers he can avail himself of on slow nights. He's aware of strip clubs such as INTERNATIONAL (low-end), SAN DIEGO (mid) or FASE DOS (high-end) where you can find the sexual athletes, the strippers.

Coming down to Colombia, I had the supermodel in mind. You know the body frame: 5-11, 120 pounds. Longlean phucking machines. Cheetah carnivore. That conception dropped quickly when I saw the ASTOUNDING abundance on non-gazelle, non-ATTITUDE chicas....the women in Medellin simply incredible. None of the head trips you'd get with Del Rey Colombianas back in CR. There, with so few of them, they are in high demand, commanding top prices, basic supply and demand. In Medellin, the only place I saw attitude was Fase Dos. Fase Dos is where you will see the supermodels, but the work involved, in my opinion, makes it a non-option. By work I refer to buying her one or more costly drinks, interviewing her, getting her vibe, is there chemistry, blah blah. If I were going to pay cien, it would be here, but it never happened. Why?

STREET CHICAS

Two spots: By day: Calle 53/Avenida de Greiff. By night: Mayorista.

Never. That is, not EVER. Not in the heyday of the Park Hotel, not when the Parque Morazon was full of them. There was no scene like this in Costa Rica in '97, and certainly not in '07. In CR, look at the handful of shivering piedreras selling it near Las Margaritas and here, HERE, you see how vastly superior Medellin is for your average, cornflake-fed sex freak. NO CONTEST. Medellin KO in Round 1.

Cuidado! Some of the fruit is green on the vine. Ask for cedulas. If they can't produce ID, then....well...you're on your own, Jack. You wanna take that risk? Isn't 18 young enough? The appearance that anything goes is just that. I would NOT want the Mayorista soldados busting in on me with an underager. Pretty much the end of life as you knew it...

Eternal problem: How can you tell? They all lie. They have, in Western societies, the ability to make phony ID's. Least I've been told so. And they shoot horses, don't they? So what's a healthy pervert to do when a devestating young thang walks by? It's confusing, exhilerating at the same time. Recently, somone asked if I had my choice of only one type chica--stripper, MP girl or street chica, what would I choose?

Hands down, street chicks. They are crack, man.

THE CHICAS:

NATALIA was my first squeeze. 18, perfect face. To qoute the poet: "She is together, all together, like a rose." She walks Mayorista like she owns it. Usually with a pack of friends, flittering in and out of discos, abrazos and moving on (she said to keep moving made it seem less like work). This is a girl who supported her mother, non-working useless sister and new baby on her meager Mayorista earnings. When I say meager I mean that she would happily go with you or me or John Wayne Gacy for 12 dollars and fifty cents. Thus, when Pauly Vegas scooped her up, lavished attention (gifts and $50 for two hours) on her, we came together pretty strong for only 3 weeks time. She was numero uno. Got to know me well--well enough that, on our last night, she could tell just looking at me that I'd been with another woman two hours before. Exhausted, we just lay together and talked. She, exhausted for very different reasons: Her kid's father had barged in and punched her in the face the night before, saying she was a bad mother, wanting the baby to live with him. Bad mother? Willing to lay with Tom, Dick and Greasy Harry for 12.50 to support her family? Te quieros exchanged upon leaving...I miss her already.

JENNI and CINDY, together forever. Found JENNI at Hotel Nuevo Paraiso on Calle 53. One of RadioMan's chicks, now 19 without an ounce of fat on her body. Think Evan Reichel Wood from THIRTEEN, add two years of screwing truckers for $15 per, y'got Jenni. CINDY was the more famous of RadioMan's discoveries. Classical beauty, perfect streetchica hardbody. Mortality paralyzed. Youth reigns supream. Checked her ID, 18. Life on the streets is tough, scars on that mag body. Seperate, they were a load. Together, they were a GAS. Once I could trust them (and believe me, you gotta be careful fucking two street chicas at once, whilst you're busy with one, the other is rifling your shit) we played it fairly free form, sometimes together or seperate. The Castillo pool was a big part and the three of us would freeze our asses off diving into cold dark water. Might have been nice if they'd learned to swim! Nearly drowned trying to keep JENNI afloat. Clowning atop the cocodrillo floaty pool thang. I jammed them into makeshift pool gear (Packer hat, tanga and shirt proclaiming "I DO BAD THINGS" for Jenni, Spandex short shorts for Cindy). Last couple dates we went to the movies. CINDY had NEVER BEEN to a movie in a theater. Lotsa fun with the car ride games before, big bucket of dulce crunch popcorn. Hey, I can see walking on that lousy Spanish language drama the first time. But Transformers?! Flick was non-stop action, still couldn't hold their attention...guess the attention span for street chicas is pretty slim. We all said the usual goodbies: Don't forget me, I'll miss you...they are phucking as I write this, on to the next RadioMan or PaulyVegas. As it should be....

OTHER MAYORISTA CHICAS:

ALEJANDRA, ever in beefs with management. First appearance at Castillo had words with Boyd who misunderstand her message that she WAS coming. Second time Aussie Greg was making a rare appearance at Castillo. Notorious for disliking street chicas, he asked for her ID. She didn't have it (19, I've seen it), Greg grudgingly allowed her in saying I would be fully responsible. It's tough to tell with these street girls! ALEJANDRA in the sake, making it all worth it. Face, belly, attitude. She made me laugh, gave NATALIA a run for top street chica. No phony emotions, just shark-eyed sex.

DIANA was another of RadioMan's, uberstreetchica at 20....interestingly, DIANA went through every page of internet copy I saved looking for her name. Chicas are VAIN. They love to see photos of themselves, will pose to the max and all want copies. Many want to see your other chicas, to compare how they stack up. They'll rifle through, "Fea...fea...muy fea...Pablo grossero..." grudingly admitting one might not be uglier than they. DIANA, kinky as they come, famous for the Mansion website photo of her being done with a vibrator by a lover. Did I mention MANY, MANY of these girls are bi-sexual, like love toys and dirty action? ESO!

LADANEY tried to rob me. Another of RadioMan's. Got me to this awful sex hotel room, gorgeous. Stoned routine of undressing. Tried to eat her, said no, then yes, but across the bed. Dug in and raised my head to notice her shoulders and head off the bed. Looked up to see her hands moving for my pants and WALLET. Nice move!!!! "I'm not a thief," said she. "Course not, baby," said I, though the session was over from that point.

DAISY was my Penelope. She'd wait in her Hotel Morgan doorway next to the El Faro, seemingly perpetually waiting, til I'd finished with the flashy trash of Nuevo Paraiso. Then she'd quitely deliver an ALMOST romantic half hour. Won't be forgetting her...

MANSION CHICAS:

In my three weeks, I took 4 away from Assie Greg's Sunday parties. All good. OLGA was #1, kind and generous, blonde, with a body unfair for a mother of 3 to have. SARA and MAGALLY are pals, eye candy. Put SARA in catwoman lingerie the first time. MAGALLY came right after. Thanks to Phizer for the almight V, 100 grams per 24 hours keeping up the appearance of Pauly Vegas as Mr. Man, Sex God! Last was SASHA, University student (another key difference, in CR the girls are in it because of two things, K*ds or drugs. In Medellin, there are plenty of University students who dabble in the sex trade, doing what they have to do to get on in the world, and really no big deal) with braces (lots have them) but natural D-cups (MANY, MANY of the girls with plastic surgery, just so cheap and so DONE)...came 3 or 4X in 40 minutes (and did I mention that MANY, MANY of these girls actually LIKE sex?) Even with these high-end girls, the dreaded Del Rey "cien" (hundred dollar requirement) no where to be found. Hoorah!!!

SUM UP:

Costa Rica is my home. Twenty years coming down, I have friends here, I have history here. That said, gotta tell ya, now that I'm back--Costa Rica has never looked uglier.

Could be the tearing apart of Avenida 4 in front of my house. The place looks like a war zone. The piedreros and ladrones haven't left though. It gets exhausting shoeing them away. Not to mention the danger aspect of living downtown, EASILY matching anything I saw in Colombia. Mentally, for me, Costa Rica feels like the wife of 17 years. Medellin, the new novia, impossibly blonde, Honeymoon gorgeouos and very, very sweet. This is illusion, of course. Need to strike a balance. Each charming in its own way. Can't walk from one end of town to the other in 15 minutes in Medellin. There's no Choco-keks candy bars. No Pollo Sabroso, no pals I have in restuarants all over town.

But there's no Mayorista in San Jose. If Henry Miller were alive, Mayorista would be a new Paris. If Hemingway, Malcolm Lowry, Kerouac were alive...this would be home. If Peckinpah were still making movies, he'd be soused out of his mind here. If drunken Henry Chinaski, aka Charles Bukowski were alive, Mayorista would be his new East Hollywood.

For Pauly Vegas, Mayorista/Medellin is shining and hard as an emerald, it is the new place, the new religion.

Costa Rica will be seeing less of me.

Loved the report. Emphasis on the girls and who to see. I'm sure if I went in 6 months it would be a new cast but still nice to read.

Really nice report, PV! It's the rare report that's both informative, entertaining, and literate. I, too, have wondered where Jack Kerouac would have spent his latter years.

Yes. Great report. I loved eating at the Ovieda food court too, and I hate fast food.

I went to Cartagena after my first trip to Medellin and had a great time there too, but my next trip will be back to MDE for Labor day weekend.

I guess the Mansion and El Castillo will be full for a while after this report. Glad you decided to stay there after being so insistent on staying in a hotel. It is just not the same for a first timer. Trust me!

PV pretty much summed it up accurately and for a first timer, he really got the feel and ambiance of Medellin dead on center. He also got more than his fair share of great pussy if that is possible....LOL

One thing he did not mention is do not go into Centro at night. Mayorista yes but Centro only during the daytime. Most of the locals won't even venture into El Centro at night.

Leave your shorts at home or for your visit to Ctg. where they are accepted. This place is jeans or pants and forget your flowered shirts. This is not a tourist destination. (shorts are OK at the Mansion or Castillo when you want to be casual but you will stick out like a sore thumb if you wear them on the street. Think about wearing a bathing suit while walking down any street in any major city during the day..OK maybe except Miami).

He also did not mention his spanish skills. Living in CR for almost 20 yers his Spanish is pretty good. If yours is not, brush up a little, get the Pimsleur Spanish (PM me) and be preparede because very few if any of these people will speak English. A few occasionally walk up and start speaking to me in English. Most of them have lived in the US and are returning to Med and Col. with money in their pockets. Charades works up to a point but only so far. Some basics will go a long way....!

Glad you had a gret trip and look forward to seeing you when you return. Notice I did not say "if"

It was great meeting you in Medellin. I had never met anyone as dedicated as myself to the overall independent pursuit of beautiful women in Medellin until I met you.

Many new and seasoned mongers have the idea that Medellin should be a Paisa haven of 9's & 10's and many are disappointed when they find that, on a whole, Medellin is mostly 7's & 8's. Because of this they miss out on "tumbles in the hay" that just blow you away.

About El Castillo: That's run by the same folks who run the Mansion, though Aussie Greg isn't much around up at Castillo. It's right up the street from Mansion, but that means about 200 yards up a STEEP incline. Be prepared to huff it...usually at the bottom on Ave. Poblado I got lazy and grabbed a cab. It's 3200P(1.60$).

Tons of reports on all this all over the place. Just do your due diligence...

One other comment on the food court in Oviedo. Guys-in terms of restaurants do not even compare this to an American food court. You can get a steak dinner there that will rival most chain restaurants in the U.S. (ie Outback, Longhorne). Wide variety of other foods as well.

I am not aware of three holes with Carolina, but if you want more information go back to my last Medellin report and notice the before and after pics.
