This is my first trip to Asia. I have been to Brazil and Colombia several times. I would suggest coming here if you have never been. The worst part is getting here.

The main advantages are so many choices, a lot of english music including live music, tons of tourist stuff to do and great partying.

The massages are also great! A normal Thai or Oil massage is around 300 baht but a lot will lower the price to 200 baht for one hour. Some or a lot nicer than others and you can speak to the girls for an extras. It is great you can get a good massage for around $6 an hour.

There are pool tables everywhere. Also a lot of connect four and Jenga (building blocks). Most the girls are pretty good at the games.

The women are different from latin america and it would be personal preference for what you like better.

Bangkok:

I went to Bangkok first and stayed at the Nana Hotel near Nana Plaza. The location is great and Nana Plaza is a fun place. Everyone will ask you to buy you a drink. In Bangkok they ask often if you will buy them a drink. I thought it was worth seeing Soi Cowboy, Patpong and Nana Plaza.

I was not impressed by the Ping Pong show and they will ask you every five steps if you want to go to the Ping Pong show. They say 100 baht i think then they charge you 400 baht.

If someone wants to see a show I thought the show at Angelwitch in Nana Plaza was entertaining.

I forget the name but I went to one go go bar I think on Soi Cowboy that the dance floor was two stories. It was cool because you could look at the girls above you. They had on skirts but no underwear.

Pattaya:

I went to Pattaya next and the atmosphere is different. I just took a taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya. There are bars everwhere and I stayed near Soi 8 at Bella Vista. I went to Soi 6 during the day and enjoyed it. There are ST bars everywhere.

I went to Walking Street several times and it is a fun place to people watch. I went to Lucifer's Disco twice and they have good live and DJ music. There is one band playing close to the street and another one further inside the bar.

There is a lot of live music playing Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc.

The taxi are great in pattaya. You can jump in the back of a truck for 10 baht. The motortaxi are also cheap there. Of course you can also rent a motorbike.

There are quite a few tours you can do from pattaya. You can rent jet skis, parasail, go carts, bowling, movies, zip lines, etc.

Cambodia:

Went to cambodia for four days. Took a bus to Siam Riep. It was great to see Angkor. You can take a tuk tuk around the ruins or rent a bicycle. I am glad a saw the sights around siem riep. The bus ride was fairly long and you have to change at the thai-cambodia border. I did a tour but wish I would of just down it by myself.

You can't rent motorbikes in siam reap. You could rent from somewhere else and take it to siam reap. I also went up a mountain where they have two waterfalls, a large buddha and ruins in the river. It is a bumpy ride but pretty cool place.

They have a floating village where 3,000 people live on the lake. It was an OK trip. 1,000 of them are from vietnam and they all fish. They have a floating basketball court on the water.

I did not do much in Cambodia besides the tours.

Phuket:

I went to Phuket next and stayed in Patong at Pacific Light. I like the hotel for the most part. It is a little hard to sleep during the day. The curtains do not block out all the light and there is some construction going on.

Phuket has a lot of beaches and I have not gone to many of them. Patong has most of the partying. The beach is pretty good but there are nicer beaches in the area.

Rock City is a bar that plays all cover rock and roll. They have a lot of other bars that play live music. There are several discos and they have all been pretty crowded.

I went to Hollywood Disco and it was pretty good. You could not buy a single drink of hard liquor. You could by single beers but you had to buy a whole bottle if you wanted jack daniels or something like that.

Motorbikes are 150 baht a day right now. The Island is pretty bike so if you want to go to other beaches it is nice to have a motorbikes. The roads are fun and there are some hills and twisties.

I rode to Karon beach yesterday and it looks like a lot more laid back place. It was pretty quite by the beach.

The taxis in phuket seem to cost more than pattaya. there road by the beach is patong is one way so you have to drive a fairly long way to turn around.

The tuk tuk are nice and some of them have subwoofers in the back. I have not gone on a ride on one yet.

There are also a lot of tours you can do from Phuket. I did the Phi Phi Island tour and took a girl. It was pretty good. The ride on the speedboat is a little rough. I drank the night before which wasn't a good idea. It said it was 3000 baht a person but I paid 1100 baht per person. I am not sure if that is normal or if the is because it is the low season.

I have not done the James Bond Island but I think it is a 2 hour ride.

Everywhere you walk the try to sell you suits, massages, glasses, dvd's, fake watches, tuk tuk, taxis. Most the guys trying to sell suits will try to shake your hand and or guess where you are from. A lot of the tailors history is from Nepal (left after WW II ?), then Burma and then Thailand.

I have been going to Soi Tiger which is below Tiger Disco. I drink at the Snake Bar which faces the street. All the girls try to get you to play games and by them drinks. Some dance on stage they wear big black boots, some try to get customers to come inside and some sit with customers. The girls who dance get paid more.

It cost 5 baht to go to the toliet but you can check out all the other girls when you walk there. It is all the way at the other end of the bar. If you ring the bell you pay 1000 baht and that buys everyone a shot.

Last night a group of guys must have rang the bell 5 or 6 times.

It is a little harder for me to pick out girls at the beer bars. It seems easier at a place such as the Help or MP in Rio. It is easier to walk around and see what you like. In Thailand you might walk past a ton or bars and it is hard to see what you like.

Of course at the go gos you just pick them by numbers.

Last night I got upset because the girl I wanted was the only one dancing so they said I could not bar fine here until 100 am and it would be 1000 baht. I said it is 1030pm so if i am going to pay 1000 baht i want to leave now. If i have to wait till 100 am I should pay less than 1000 baht. They would not budge so I went to another bar. Also the manager would not talk to me directly.

Her barfine is higher because she dances. They have 5 girls who dance there but the other four did not show up to work.

Conclusion:

I would suggest going if you have not been. The trip is long from the United States. Once you are here it is easy and pretty cheap to visit other countries. Next time i will go to Vietnam.

It is expensive if you buy people a lot of drinks. Just say no with a smile if you do not want to pay a lot. I think Pattaya is the cheapest place if you want to save money. If you want to eat cheap see where the locals eat. There is some good cheap food.


I would get a soapie or two. The regular massages are also great. One day I got a foot massaage, a thai massage, then an oil massage from the same girl (3 hours). That was just 750 baht ! I tipped her 750 baht for the two handjobs during the 3 hours.

The off season has been pretty good because some of the prices are low. It is hot but not too bad. It has not been raining much. Not sure if I have been lucky with the weather.

Nice report. I too just got back from Bangkok, Pattaya, and Siem Reap. I didn't want to take a bus, so I just flew Bangkok airways to Siem Reap. I liked it, but probably won't go again.

I too have been to Rio and Colombia a few times, but I've been to Thailand 15 times. Thailand is definitely more fun overall, but I prefer the looks of the Latinas. There's a lot to be said for the smiles and the sanuk of the Thai girls though;)

wow, you definitely covered the bases on this trip.

the transport costs in patong are extremely high compared to bkk and pattaya. especially at night. a moto to go a few blocks is 100thb. tuk tuk usually 300thb. renting a moto or staying walking distance to the beach and bangla rd is a good way to go.

a good moto ride is head south from patong to nai harn beach. takes about 30 minutes. i think nai harn is the best beach and kata is probably second.

Took a longboat to coral island for 800 baht. it is 20 to 30 minutes from Rawai Beach.



This is the resort on coral island. paid 1500 baht for a room. has a/c in the room but no t.v. not a party place but not a bad place to take a girl. decided to go there last minute. below is a picture of coral island

Nai Harn Beach

Thanks for the report. Remembers me my first Thai trip in August 2007. I saw you've been to Maya Bay, what a great place ! I enjoyed Phuket myself a lot. Great atmosphere and nice lady's are available as well. I will return in Thailand in 33 days, but a starting in AC, cant wait !!

Molly Malones faces the beach and they had good live music. It was not too loud and you could give request. They have pints of beer and specials at certain times. This bad had two girls who sang in the bad. they were both good looking and good performers.

this go go was awful. i made the mistake of buying a drink and just not looking around first. maybe all the good looking girls where gone that night. they had a show going on that i was not interested in seeing. i bought two drinks which should of been 200 baht for the jack daniels and 100 for the water. instead of 300 baht they gave me a bill for 800 baht. they wanted me to pay 500 baht for the show.

i told them i was only paying the 300 baht and would not pay for the show. then they wanted a tip for the staff and the girls sitting around wanted a tip. i just left.




went to rock city for a couple of drinks. it is good if you like loud cover music like metallica, ac/dc, guns n roses, etc.

looked around Tai Pan but did not stay. It looked like there was a lot of freelancers there. they did not charge a cover.

i would suggest looking inside the go go before buying a drink. i was ready to leave playschool as soon as my drink arrived.

i don't know if you read my report/guide on patong (on this site).

do not go inside ANY go gos in patong. they are all rip offs. have to get girls from the outside bars. i'm not sure what happened over the years but the go gos have really changed. the only one that is semi decent is rock hard (upstairs on the corner of bangla and rat-u-thit).

as i recall you had hung out below tiger disco. that is where the best women can be found (women that require a bar fine anyway, as you've seen freelancers are all over but they come out very late).

i did not think the go gos would be that bad. i was expecting much and was still disapointed. the freelancing seen does seem to be very good. the bars girls are good but you have to look around. i ended up hanging out with one girls for the last 6 nights.

i did have fun in phuket. heading to bkk right now.

air asia back to bangkok. one way with a lot of luggage for 1900 baht total. it was 50 baht for a coke on the plane. drinks are not free.



it helps to know how much you luggage weighs this is how much they charge. it is pretty fast to check in at the phucket airport.



i got here after they closed. so i did not get to check it out. it is a pretty good moped ride from patong.

i like this go go which is on soi cowboy in bangkok. it had a two story dance floor so you can look at the girls above you who are wearing skirts. there are a lot of dancers there and the music is good.

i brought a girl there so i did not check into there prices. it is at least worth stopping in for a drink or two.



this place is also on soi cowboy. it has decent food and live music. one guy dresses up like elvis and plays elvis music. they also played men at work, john denver etc. not a bad place to get a drink.

Baccarra is one of the biggest ripoffs these days. They've got some idiotic barfine policies in place. Nice eye candy, but I avoid it now.

I am home after my first trip to Thailand and Cambodia. The atmosphere at Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket are all different. I decided to go on the trip last minute so I would of been better of doing more research before the trip. I did read CH while on the trip.

Going to three different locations each with so many bars/ go gos/ discos it takes a while to read about each city. Even going to one location such as Soi Cowboy it takes a while to look at each place if you do not know where you want to go. Having an idea of where you want to go in each city will help. There are so many places in Thailand you need to narrow down where you want to go.

It did seem slow at a lot of the bars so the girls did not mind staying for a long time. I think some of the girls would go a long time without any customers. I had one on Pattaya and one in Phuket I spent a long time with. They both work at beer bars and they liked the idea of not having to go to their bar. Another girl wanted to stay the whole night because I had a/c in the room. I was leaving early the next day so I told her I needed to get some sleep and she left. I did make the mistake of taken her and another girl from the same bar that was near my hotel. It was awkward going back and getting the other girl later.

As most places the girls vary a lot with looks and attitudes. As far as attitudes it went from some owing cars wanting as much money as they can get to others being new to the game and not too worried about money. Some tried to get me to buy them drinks, their friends drinks, bar fine their friends etc.

The two I spent the most time with were good about not asking for a lot and seem to appreciate what I did give them.

Bangkok:

I went to Bangkok first and last. I partied a lot on Bangkok since it was my first and last place to go. As I mentioned before they try to get you to buy them the most drinks in Bangkok. The first time I went to one of the go gos in Nana Plaza I bought some drinks. When I returned I did not buy any rounds and they did not talk to me too much. I just stopped in for a beer and wasn't planning on taking anyone home. I did buy the girl a drink I took home the first time and she did not even finish her drink with me. As soon is I told her I wasn't going to barfine her she went back to dancing. She was one of the ones who owns a car and was all about money.

I did go to Sabai Sabai massage on Sukhumvit Soi 11 and go a nice 1 1/2 our massage and a hand job for an extra 500 baht. I should of paid less. www.sabaisabaimassage.com (02-253-4523, 02-651-0188, 02-651-1662). Says please call Mrs. Aun for 24 hr outside service.

I spent three nights with the girl on the left. I barfined her friend and us three went out one night to Soi Cowboy. They were fun.

Pattaya:

Cheaper prices and great night life. Very cheap to get around. I liked Lucifers on walking street. Went to Lólita's and I liked it. Went to both Sabai Dee and Sabailand. Liked both of them but one girls ruined it but wanted more money for a second pop.

I went to Soi 6 during the day and liked it. It is hard to walk down the street and pick a girl you like. They are all trying to get your attention and pull you in their bar. It is lower end but there is a lot of activity during the day.

Phuket:

Nicer beaches. More expensive to get around. Has the worst go gos of the three locations. Has tons of beer bars with some girls dancing on top of the bars. Has a lot of freelancers at the discos. Girls love to play games at the beer bars. They also want you to buy them drinks but are not as pushy as they are in Bangkok. Beer Bars stay open until 4am and the discos stay open later.

Good Report, You got me even more excited for my first trip to Phuket In August, Im a soldier over here in Iraq for a year, I been here since December and I am taking my 2 weeks R&R in the beginning of August, and Im trying hard to make up for lost time,,, plus relax and have a great vacation and enjoy the beautiful scenary

you should try soi kebsup in patong beach. just down the soi from the intersection of rat-u-thit rd there are several massage places with relatively attractive ladies hanging outside.

i'm not big on massages so i never tried them. but these places definitely provide some massage, they aren't set up purely for the "action". but looking in the places, i saw some strategic "netting" hanging over some of the beds which provides for some intimate moments.........

Sorry I did not write down the names of the ones i visited. They are everywhere and they vary a lot. Since it was the low season they wanted 300 baht but would offer 200 baht for 1 hour. Sometimes they ask more for a oil massage than a thai massage. Both are good and I would try both.

If you get a foot, head or shoulder massage you are on the main room that can be seen from the street and are around other people. If you get a thai or oil massage they take you to a private area. There are curtains so there might be people around you but you will not see them.

I think the girls are on commision for the regular massages then they pocket any tips for any extras. If you do not talk price 1st they will get you excited then shoot a high price. Just smile and mention a lower price.

I found one I like and visited her three times. I stayed 3 hours the first visit then came back 2 more times. I had her trained to give me a happy begining, a massage then a happy ending.

If you go out an odd time it is nice if there is no one else in the private area. Then you do not hear anyone else talking.

They will stand outside their shop or even walk pretty far away trying to get customers.

If you want a "soapie" go to Christin Massage. It cost more but is full service. I posted a link to a map of Patong below. It has Christin Massage on the map.

If you look below Christin Massage you will see Soi Kepsab which was just mentioned. The massage places are close to Rat U Thit. If you look at the map you will see it splits off into two roads.

There are a lot right there and the girls will grab you when you walk by. You need to pick a girl you are interested in and tell her what you want before you go inside. They will try to get you in quickly but you can discuss what you want and price before you go in. You have the best bargaining when you are in the street.

They are a little lower end in so you are on a mat on the floor. They are close together so if you tell one no and walk to the next one they will see you.

It is a little akward picking then one you want but you have to do it. I regret not picking 2 or 3 at one time. It still would of been cheap.

If you enter Soi Kepsab from the beach road it is right by the Burger King. There are a lot of shops right there so it is hard to see.

If you like one of them they will prob. meet you after work. One of them wanted to meet me at a disco but I already had plans.

The one I went to three times is Wanida Massage on Soi Dr. Wattana. It is close to the beach road in Patong. I did not get the girls name but she was the best looking one there. She did not speak a lot of english. I ate close to their and could see them all hanging out. She caught my I so i went over there after I ate.

She was conserative looking.

I forgot to mention I got two tailored short sleeve shirts. I want not to impressed. I think it would be best to wear a shirt you like. i had a t shirt on and should have worn a short sleeve button shirt i liked. I paid 950 baht but prob. could of paid less. They claimed the fabric I picket was more expensive.

I wear my shirts loose and this are a little small in my opinion. If i would of worn a shirt sleeve shirt I might not of had a problem.

I also over stayed my visa and they do charge you 500 baht a day. You have 30 days if you fly in and 15 if you do a land crossing. The problem was I took a bus to cambodia. So when I entered the second time to Thailand I had 15 days from that date. The second entry cancelled the first entry so I lost 2 days. I thought I was good to the 19th which was from my flight but I was good until the 17th because of my land entry.
