BUG REPORT: follow-ups are somtimes screwed up

I noticed that the follow-ups don't always work as expected - what's up with that?
Sometimes, when you follow-up to a follow-up, it will appear only as a follow-up to the ORIGINAL message - not the one you were responding to.
