But unless you know Spanish extensively and are really familiar with the country and how the system works down there, I think most people can completely understand you leaning towards paying and getting out of that situation as quickly and safely as possible. I really don't see any benefit in insulting people who opt for the bribe. I understand it can be frustrating if one believes they shouldn't be bribing officers, but I don't think it will really make much of a difference until they are really comfortable in the zona. I think the unintended side effect, though, might be discouraging other posters from posting similar experiences. Why should they if their post will be the subject of attack? We want to know every time something like this happens, perhaps it will help us identify patterns, places, officers themselves. Bashing the victims isn't going to help us get this kind of info IMHO. I strongly encourage all posters to post their crime/bribery reports. It will help us learn from each other. In fact, I'm thinking about creating special permanent sections which specifically address STD's and crime. Be safe and thanks again Daytimer!
