| Altogringo, I have been in the same situation. Those of you who know me know that I look like the typical white-boy Gringo. When I was younger I used to have similar problems, but NEVER paid money. Having lived in TJ so long, I apparently exude the aura of a native or something because I am never fucked with anymore. I have been busted for pissing in the middle of the street in front of Sr. Frogs (really), for doing the same on the front steps of the juzgado federal at three in the morning, for alleged car theft (I was breaking into my own car because I had lost the Keys) and for more assorted traffic offenses than I can count. Yet I do not pay them bribes. Period. I am unfailingly polite, and, if that does not get me let off with a warning, I am more than happy to visit the judge. The Tijuana jails are very overcrowded. The judge really does not want to throw a gringo in on a stupid charge like what happened to Dtimer (if it is even illegal, I am going to find out tomorrow) because, if Daytimer had gone in, a violent criminal would probably have had to be released to make room for him. |
