Monday morning quarterbacking...
Would RS have disintegrated if so many members had NOT known each other personally? The more I study the aftermath, the more I'm drawn to the conclusion that the small, dominant clique that chose to hang together (in many respects, live together...) in TJ, ultimately brought their poisonous personal vendettas to the RS board. If they hadn't known each other, the flaming never would have started.

If I'm walking down the street and some total stranger spews epithets at me, do I get pissed off? No. But if my wife starts cursing me, then I want to strike back. If my wife cursed me every day, well...looks like a divorce would be in our future.

I liken it to living in a 30 unit apartment complex where one or two families are always up in arms - i.e., domestic violence. When the fighting breaks out, everyone is drawn into it. If the people are beatin' the shit out of each other next door - I have to listen to it. Then I get pissed. What do I do? Beat on the wall? Try to stop it myself? Call the cops?

When threats are made on RS I gotta be concerned.
A "flame culture" developed at RS and it just got worse...there may have been hidden agendas going on - who knows? Some people just like to fuss and fight - all the time - all night long. Every once and and awhile I'll catch a bit of Jerry Springer or Jenny Jones and I'll wonder "Where in the hell do they find these foul-mouthed, belligerent, moronic human beings?" And why do they want to demonstrate their idiotic behaviour on national television, in front of millions? What if these people were my neighbors? Yet millions of people love to watch this stuff - and try to model their lives predicated on the behaviours that they see...

Most of you guys have probably lived with a woman, and everything is just as sweet as can be. Then one day, something happens...and in a matter days everything has changed ( Like when she finds out about your little sojourns to TJ...gulp!)The pressure builds, the tectonic plates shift...and California slides into the sea...

Personally, I'm glad I took the opportunity to AVOID meeting RS'ers in TJ. As a result, my TJ experiences have always been pleasant and relaxing - as opposed to psychotic, paranoid and angst-filled...

If nobody's lookin' for you, they can't find you...
