Great post Porker. Everyone who read your posts on redsnake always appreciated your insights. As others have said, the above post was heartfelt and honest.

I think many posters are still venting over the loss. The scapegoat is apparent. I do not think we need to continue to recriminations endlessly, but to begin to figure out what we want in the future. Redsnake, despite its problems, was a great setup, both informative and entertaining. How do we reproduce that community? What level of moderater (without censorship) do we need? NC's philosophy was laissez-faire. It was a hobby for him and a pro bono public service. In the end, it did not work for him or the board as it just became a pain in the ass. I'm thinking a moderator could
monitor the board in the sense of enforcing basic rules and appying a consequence for violators. It would not have to be everyday, but rather when things are about to go nuclear. The terrible swift sword of Solomon at the right moment can avert more serious problems. On most days we police ourselves just fine.

Should we have registration and/or pay for the privelege of joining the forum? One aspect of pay that would be beneficial it seems to me would be that multiple ID's would diminish. The other is people would think before they violated the board rules and lost their priveleges. The last benefit could be that the operator/moderator of the site would receive some compensation for providing a more active service.
