Thanks for your report. I'm glad to hear that you were not severly injured. First, I know how awkward it is to report these muggings. I felt very stupid reporting my pickpocketing experience in AB. Nobody likes to feel like a fool or a wimp, and muggings tend to make you feel like both. BUT YOU DO US ALL A SERVICE when you report such incidences. Like you, I also realized the role I played in my loss. I violated some fundamentals. In fact, after I lost my dough, I walked back along the same route thinking, fuck'em if they want to mug me, I don't have much money now anyhow...(!)That was my attitude. Re: Cabs - undoubtedly the safest way to get out of the Zona after dark. Use'em, gentlemen....it's damn cheap insurance. I honestly think that we can expect more muggings and mugging attempts on gringos. There is more gringo dough in the Zona than ever before and the muggers know this. Word is out on the street...and the feeding frenzy is on. The cops could care less, and may even get kick-backs from the muggers. Or they may shake the muggers down later on... Also there are more desperate, unemployed males hanging around trying to get across the border. Average cost to a person trying to cross the border illegally ( to pay for illegal transport by a "coyote")? $1000 USD. Where is the average peasant gonna get that kind of dough? They are gonna rob gringos...mug five to 10 gringos and you might just make your "illegal transport nut"... The prostitutes and barstaff are paragons of virtue by comparison. Anyhow, thanks for lettin' all of us know of your experience. It serves as an important reminder to all of us. KRICO
