I believe Owsley (Stanley Augustus Owsley III) was based outta Berkeley. Purple Owsley was considred the best at the time...closest to the Sandoz recipe. LSD was still a grey-area drug in terms of legality and Owsley was constantly under police scrutiny...When LSD became officially illegal sometime in 1967 ( I believe...) Owsley was finally busted...did some jail time, I believe and I think he died recently...or was that Mario Savio? KRICO
