Kind of scary in a way. There was an article somewhere recently about the private and public sides of Japanese. Specifically businessmen. Stuff like (private) spending their evenings and money in bars/brothels and doing stunts like getting naked and dancing around the tables with the equally naked bar girls. And then (public) being all reserved the next day at the office. And everyone knows this is reality but no one calls the emperor on what he is wearing.
