I don't know if the US ones work there, but I doubt it. You can but the Mexican cards at a lot of places. I got one at the farmacia en el CaliMex supermercado en Zona Rio. It's just across the street from the Camino Real. It's a big improvment. Not having to have the coins at hand, not getting ripped off for said coins. It's just easier. I would think that the stores near the border sell them too.
