Thrush is actually a yeast infection... the same stuff that causes a whitish vaginal discharge in women. Yeast (candida) can cause a similar infection in the mouth, causing whitish goop on the tongue or cheeks. Or simply irritation on the tongue. Treatable with oral antifungal meds (Diflucan, Mycelex, Nystatin).
