I had this experience Friday night at Chavela's. I took a picture with mi amiga (granted it was taken with one of those shitty poloroid cameras that look older than my grandfather, that those old men use who come around & offer to take your picture). The first one was not very flattering & mi amiga was horrified that I would be carrying this photo around with me. Entonces, we had to take another. This one was better, but still exagerated the tiny bit of fat she carries around her midsection (we also used a different hombre with a newer camera, probably a late 70's model). In looking at the photo & the girl right in front of me, it was obvious that sometimes the photos just don't come out all that great. The funny thing is a month before we took a picture that she kept, & it came out great. This happened with another amiga as well, I always get stuck with the crappy photo! I also was disappointed that although they look fine in person, sometimes the makeup they wear really makes them look like putas in the photos. Oh well, the photos still are good reminders of the fun times I've had in the zona. PS. sometimes these photos can come back to haunt you. Mi amiga came running up to me Friday night & said "I was looking at your photo yesterday & wondering why you haven't come to see me." "You told me you would come back in two weeks & it's been a month." Oops! |
