Typically, the best exchange rate you can get is to use your bankcard in an ATM machine in TJ. That way you get the current (as of that day)official exchange rate (pesos/dollars) and you aren't forced to discount your dollars in order to profit the "casa de cambio" (exchange house)...You only pay your home bank's fee for withdrawing money from another bank's ATM (What? A buck-fifty?)...Just remember that you are withdrawing pesos and the screen will say you are withdrawing $3000 (pesos, not dollars) which is the equivalent (approx.) of 300 dollars (in other words, divide the peso figure by 10 in order to determine the approximate dollar value)...both pesos and dollars use the "dollar" sign ($). You can withdraw as little as 5 bucks ( $50 pesos)...Many of the ATM's have instructions in Spanish and English on their screens... Suerte! KRICO |
