I say hit Adelita's and Chicago Club...for a newbie anything else is a pure waste of time. The best way to acclimate yourself to the Mexican environment (short of getting in a knife fight in Callejon Coahuila) is to spend a significant amount of time in Adelita's...just sit at the bar and watch. This advice is for English-speaking gringos only. If you speak Spanish, then I'd say venture out...pero, cuidado! (but, be careful, watch out!). Having said that, I must admit that on my first trip to TJ, I arrived at AB at night and spent about 8 hours walking back and forth between AB and CC...but the next day I was wandering all around the Zona area ( by myself), knowing full well that I was putting myself at risk for a mugging... So it depends on your level of confidence...if you're an adventurous sort you will automatically begin to expand your horizons...if your naturally less adventurous, you will tend to adhere to AB and CC. I must say, that in all my experience in going to TJ, I've never found better women than the ones who ply their trade in AB and CC. One travels all around the world, merely to realize that there's no place like "home".... KRICO |
