Just a note-Voudou is an offshoot of Orisha, the African religion worshipping "lesser" saints and deities, because you can't talk directly to God. When the slaves were brought over to the United States,the owners didn't want the slaves worshipping their "heathen Gods", and tried to convert them to their own Catholicism. The slaves would therefore be outwardly praying to St. Peter, but in their own minds they were communicating with Eshu or Legba.It's a fascinating history.
