Just a note-Voudou is an offshoot of Orisha, the African religion worshipping "lesser" saints and deities, because you can't talk directly to God. When the slaves were brought over to the United States, the owners didn't want the slaves worshipping their "heathen Gods", and tried to convert them to their own Catholicism. The slaves would therefore be outwardly praying to St. Peter, but in their own minds they were communicating with Eshu or Legba. It's a fascinating history. I wear a couple of Orisha bracelets myself,my amiga Marissa saw mine and asked me to pick her up one of Oshun, the goddess of Love. They can be purchased at any Botanica.Gee, all I wanted to know was what Tweety stood for ( I was secretly hoping for something pornographic) and look what happened! I love this board! I love you guys! Oops, I think I need to get down to AB and love my sweetie. I'll be down tommorrow night 2-3AM. See ya! A. |
