Some Mexican guy in AB told me the same thing about 2 years ago...He said that there are "tipsters" who hang in the bars and keep an eye out for "big spenders"...it's then assumed that this guy is loaded with dough...and he becomes a target. I wonder how they divvy the dough up after a hit...
I've got a few of those photo-panel, voice-balloon, crime comic books, "Casos Reales" (Real Cases)...in which the central theme of the story is about "bueno para nadas" ( "good for nothings" as their "madres" call them...) who rob guys on the street, typically by scoping the victim out in a bar and then following the guy out, usually when he's plastered...Of course the ladrones are always caught and thrown into the "carcel" (jail), usually after graduating to more vicious forms of mayhem, and the closing page always has the criminal peering through the bars, with a pained look of remorse and regret on his face....
Ostensible lesson: Don't flash cash....
