You statement about Cancer makes me think... that it isn't a disease like a virus or a bacteria. Typically, diseases evolve to the point that they don't kill their hosts, or at least kill them very slowly. It is in their own best interest(who wants to die?). With Cancer, it is more like accelerated old-aging. I can even see where there might be evolutionary benefits to keep Cancer-prone individuals in the gene pool. In fact, this is probably why Cancer exists - to kill its host at a time lower than its normal lifespan - otherwise, what is its point? Fuck, with shit like Cancer to worry about, you've got to wonder why AIDS gets so much attention and money. If you could cure Cancer, you might even latch on to the key to the aging process, and really extend our expected lifespans beyond our miniscule 75-odd years. If that might be the case, you might find me a little more "horrified" over broken condoms. The fact is... nobody gets out of here alive. Since I've reached 40, already have kids, and don't plan on having any more, and due to the fact I feel that my kids will be well-provided for in case I might meet an untimely demise - it might explain my lack of "horror" regarding broken condoms. I remember when I was 25, and didn't yet have kids, I was indeed "horrified" of both broken condoms and whores in general. It is all based on the fact that I know I'm going to die eventually, and that what was most important was to pass my genes securely on to the future - and now that that has been accomplished, I'm not going to go around worrying about shit that has a such a very small liklihood of occuring. In addition to "White Knight" syndrome, and "believe anything the media says" syndrome, this probably is the other main reason for the difference in attitude among most of us here, regarding the AIDS issue. We don't care as much as you do, because we don't have to. And, if any of you are considering a false-hearted bleeding-heart reply - save it for the girls, or for someone else that acts like they care.
