Very true, Athos. These "underage" chicas have a life experience quite unlike their counterparts in the US, yet we look at the issue with an American world view. I would like to see better age enforcement in the zona although the underage chicas would most likely disagree strongly. Many of these chicas are single mothers and would most likely view a change in the enforcement policies with resentment and bitterness, especially if prompted by Americanos who have little in common with their day to day realities. Mexico is slow to change and viable employment alternatives would happen at a snails pace IMO, if ever. I'm not advocating underage prostitution at all, but sometimes it is worth trying to look at the issue through the eyes of the chicas in question. How would people here feel if they were told they had to leave their job with no other job to go to and mouth(s) to feed? You'd be pissed. The chicas would most likely then ply their trade in a more risky, underground fashion. It's a tough problema. TJResearcher, are you going to solve it? I'm sure your answer, with all due respect, would be academically sound and virtuous, but that "don't feed the bulldog". Celtics
