I've been helping out an orphanage in TJ for awhile now,I just went down Thursday night and spent the night,brought Christmas presents to the kids Friday morning.There's 14 kids ranging from 9 months to 20 years old, all of them have something wrong,retardation,autistic,deaf,etc.The orphanage is run by two Catholic sisters who get zero help from the Mexican government.The first time I went, I brought two cases of pampers and a case of apple juice,just to see what the scene was.The sister showed me some of the children,and told what I could bring next time.In wandered a little 3 year old girl who held out her arms to me to be picked up.I picked her up and she snuggled her head into my shoulder,the sisters were amazed,saying that she never went to anyone before.I replied that the little girls loved me,it's the bigger ones that I have problems with! It's another reason for me to spend the night when I go down there(like I need a reason?)and makes me feel like I'm giving something to help out my adopted country.I think it's a good idea if we can all give a little,it really doesn't take much,and it sure goes a long way.just my dos centavos. amamenena |
