$4096!! I've never paid Philippine Airlines more than $550 rt to Manila from San Francisco. I've been there about 10 times and always travel during the low season; usually in October. You should still be safe if you stay near Manila and don't do anything stupid. Plus, it really helps if you know some locals; and if you dress like a bum.
