Your perception seems to be along the realms of what I assessed the movie to be. It had great potential, I kept wishing that Salma Hayak switched parts with Zeta-Jones, then, she could turn into Scarface2001 just like the original scarface with Pachino, yet with a female twist. While this is not an academy award winning film, for those who go into TJ, it may be worth watching simply because you can relate very much to the atmosphere and its ambiance. Had the story taken place anywhere else, my interest probably would not have been sparked to see the movie. I won't go into the plot/story/characters, only that this would be a good movie to see on a matinee. :-),:-),:- (2.5 happy faces, 5 being tops. Raiders.
