The most common and serious interactions are with medications (and drugs) that are metabolized in the liver using the same pathway or enzymes used by Tagamet. The drugs are not broken down as quickly, and get high (toxic)levels of one or both. The idea of taking Tagamet with Viagra is to produce higher blood levels of Viagra or a longer period of time to break the Viagra down. Anyone interested in doing this should CAREFULLY read the info on Viagra on the Pfizer web site. Serious interactions between Tagamet and other medications would include: Coumadin, Theophylline (Theodur), Dilantin. Other potential problems could include: Inderal, Procardia, Valium, Librium.
