on bringing their whole wallet to the zona.

Last week I was walking from Tropical to the Polla Bar. I always walk in the road and I always take a diagonal path to the Polla Bar from the Tropical club. Upon jumping off the sidewalk I hear a loud yell from across the street. I look over and there are three kids trying to get this older gringos wallet. He manages to break free with wallet in tact, but I look up and see credit cards hitting the road. He doesn't even realize it. I survey the situation and walk back to the cross walk from my diagonal path to the crosswalk and pick up the cards. It happens to be a Exxon oil card and a visa card. Why would anyone take a Exxon oil card to the zona? In all of my travels throughout Mexico, I have never run across a Exxon oil station. They certainly do not take visa cards at ANY bar that is located in the zona.

This guy was fortunate. I ran up to him and handed him his cards and told him to be very careful and always walk in the roadway. Other guys are not as lucky. I have been fortunate(knock on wood). I probably get down to the zona at least one time a week and in six years have never been close to being mugged. I am always very careful, take a taxi at night, always walk on the road, and never take any credit cards with me. It is amazing how many guys walk up ratero hill at 2 in the morning by themselves not paying attention and walking on the sidewalk. In my mind opening themselves to a mugging.
