I've been to Pattaya and Bangkok, and HIGHLY recommend a Thailand visit (for the sex scene, I greatly prefer Pattaya to Bangkok). As far as diseases go, don't worry about the media scare tactics, and just take the same precautions you should in TJ or anywhere else - i.e., wear a goddamn rubber. You will get amazing massages, all nighters, etc. in Pattaya that you will never, ever forget - it is something that must be experienced to be believed.
