Kendricks, I agree with you in spirit as well. We need to keep up the good fight in this country as well. The cops and judges are always looking for ways to circumvent constitutional protections. Nevertheless, in this country what you have described is corrupt police action that if found out by the system, gets negated (see Rampart). In countries without the basic protections, such police action is NOT corrupt...it IS the system.

It is true that the conservative Supreme Court of the last 2 decades has gutted much of the search and seizure protection that was in place previously. However, shockingly, they actually started to reverse this process with a couple of recent decisions. It is now difficult to impossible for police to obtain search warrants based on anonymous tips from creeps. The Court has even ruled that drug checkpoints are unconstitutional...you may not be stopped and searched in your car for drugs without probable cause. The mobility of motor vehicles has often been used by the courts as a rationalization to make exceptions to civil liberties. Decisions like these are hopeful signs that even this court believes the pendulum had swung too far the other way.
