I took no offense to what you posted. I did not see anything negative or argumentive about your post.

In two weeks I am starting my residency paper work for Mexico. The main reason for this is that I have property in Mexico. I will get you information on taking your things into Mexico and the information on FM3, 4 (living/study), & 5 (work/business permit) at that time. I used to spend a lot of time in the Hipodromo area. I have a lot of friends up there. It is quite a bit different from any of the areas close to the boarder as it is a neighborhood. It is nice up there but my friends use to always complain that the theft was a little high up there. I still have two x in-laws that live in that area. I also have an x mother in law that lives on the edge of the Zona Norte. She has lived there for over 40 years and has not had a problem. In the area close to the boarder it is tough to find a place. If you want 2-5 rooms that will take some walking and looking but they are there. The prices should be in the 3 500.00 range but you can find one bedrooms for 150 ? 350 that are really nice. You were lucky to have a stove left behind by someone that does not happen often. I can tell you that any of the areas towards the hillside behind Revolution have a large number of apartments in the area. The only problem is I do not know if that is what you are looking for. There are a few nice ones that are secure in the area. This will put you about 2.5 miles from the boarder.

As far as taking things into Mexico. I do not think I would want anyone knowing that I had in my car expensive AV equipment. Fox made it clear that gifts were not to be taxed during Christmas this year. I would take it over a little at a time and just go through the nothing to declare lane. If you get pulled into secondary deal with it at that time. Let them know it is a gift for your girlfriend or something. Have a made up receipt with you just in case. The cost will be the same if there is one to be applied weather you declare or not. As far as the appliances go you are not going to be able to just stick them in your trunk. Have some paper work and declare it. I will get you all the information on these matters in two weeks or less.

I avoid this problem by buying MOST things in the extremely large category in Mexico.

I will post more on this later.
