I stand corrected. It does seem like a good idea, particularly in SD, given the proximity to the Zona. It is certainly a problem that resistance is starting to show up. I don't think the LA County Health Dept is recommending the culture over the urine test however. I would suspect that most doctors are using the LCR urine tests, since it is easier, particularly for the patient.
