First of all, the Philippines sits at the border of Asia and Pacific Islands. For this matter, Filipinos/Filipinas could go either way. Conventionally, Pacific Islanders refers to the people from Polynesia and Micronesia, and the Philippines don't belong to either. However, the people from these islands must be gentetically close. At the same time, the Philippines is culturally and politically a part of SE Asia, and the statement like "Filipina is not asian" is absurd.
