Have a look at the Nuevo Laredo section from Redsnake - http://www.redsnake.com/discus/messages/184/184.html Tres Caminos, La Hacienda, and Santa Maria are the some of the nicest and most common choices on the Mexican side. La Pasada and Howard Johnson's are the closest ones to the border on the US side.
