In my time in the zona I've given only three chicas gifts. In each case they were not only beautiful IMO, but I considered them amigas as well. I also gave the gift with no expectations of anything in return. If I'm giving her a gift, she's already gone way beyond what I expected anyway. Besides, it's just nice to see them feeling good at the thought. I read somewhere once that men were asked what they thought women preferred...a dozen roses or a dozen roses given as indivudual gifts on twelve separate occasions. The vast majority of the women polled said an individual rose on twelve different occasions indicating that they appreciated being thought of that much. IMO if a chica is asking for a gift, forget her, she's just greedy. I had a friend whose girlfriend would actually ask him to take her shopping for shoes. Yikes! He'd end up paying $$$ for something she might wear five times, then move on to another pair. Her closet was loaded with shoes barely worn! It was like he had to prove his affection materially.
