It is an adventure walking in the old marketplace of Juarez with its hundreds and hundreds of small shops both inside and on foottraffic only streets. From the bridge
at El Paso street in El Paso you bear slightly to the right to began walking south on Juarez and after on Juarez for a block or so you take a right on any street and then a left on Mariscal which in about 6-7hundred yards it seems you arrive at the cathedral. From the street in front of the cathedral continuing south you will be on a street that is foot traffic only with shops in the middle of it, then coming to De La Paz
you can go left to see all the shops, cantinas and street girls (you would be going east) and after returning you could keep going west into the old market place section
with its unique restraunts, butchers, vegetable vendors and a few thousand people
out shopping. It is quite an experience. I bought a banana and stopped to watch a man talking to friends with his two Chihuahuas, which are supposed tobe native
to the state of Chihuahua where Juarez is located.
My favorite time to go to the old market is on Saturday Morning . There are Aztec dancers
in the Cathedral square, indians and all kinds of people seem to come to the town square on
Saturday morning. I stopped to look at some herbs in a doorway and went inside the building looking
at herbs and plants and discovered that I was actually on the third floor of an enormous restaurant spread belowme. The had a Mariachi band and piano and violin players for the noon meal .
I noticed a group of rather excited people gathered around someone in the street and was
surprised to see a woman and man with several cages of rattlesnakes and she was selling rattlesnake
venom. According to her for aches and pain and arthritis and swellings on the skin all you had to
do was rub the venom on the skin. I thought about buying some but I am going to research the use
of venom some more to see what there is tobe learned. Many people have told me that they have
used bee venom for arthritis pain . So I may look for the rattlesnake lady the next time I go to Juarez.
I thought , gollylee, here I came to Juarez to get some diversion with all its beautiful girls and I find something to do some research on. What is interesting about rattlesnake venom is that is looks like
sperm when it is cool..........DOCTORGOOD
