According to one anthropologist, the average Mangaian male has a more extensive knowledge of female anatomy than most European medical doctors. After the initial training, the boys are assigned to an older woman for "practical exercises" in which the older woman coaches the boy in how to delay his ejaculation until it coincides with the woman. As a result, Mangaians need only about five minutes of foreplay before intercourse, which usually lasts between 15-30 minutes, during which the female has 2-3 orgasms, her final one occurring simultaneously with the guy. Pretty amazing, no? In fact, the emphasis on pleasing women is so great that a guy who is unable to bring a woman to orgasm is considered a total loser and his woman will usually leave him. Compare that to our culture where we are told nothing about female orgasm except locker room tales and inconsistent anecdotal information, where pre-marital sex is still frowned on, where schools still encounter opposition to providing sex education to students, and yet somehow, once we're in a relationship, men are expected to suddenly and miraculously be able to please women. A recent study (1998) indicated that about 40% of American women are sexually dysfunctional in some way or another (physically or mentally). The Mangaians believe that a woman has to learn how to orgasm, it doesn't come naturally, and so the young girls are taught how to orgasm by older women. In the U.S., until the last 20-30 years, little was known about the process of female orgasm, and it's an area that is still riddled with contradictory claims. If a visitor from another planet compared the U.S. and Mangaian sexual practices, which do you think he would find more "advanced" and "civilized"? And when you deal with a prostitute, it becomes even stranger, since they seem to be able to turn their sexual arousal on and off like a light switch. That makes the Pink Panther's roar that much more enjoyable, verdad? Once, my favorita was embarrassed after we finished, and apologized for her "muchas gritas". She was wailing like a banshee.
