I don't want to sound like an alarmist, but it bothers me that so much of this thread talks in a cavalier way about visiting LaMesa as though it were just on the other side of Bambi or Lord Black's. In fact, it's in another area of TJ, one that is dangerous, as evidenced by the article RickFeliz exerpted. Every occasion I've been there something has happened that has concerned or scared me, and I've been going to TJ for 12 years, walk freely in the ZN at 3 a.m. by myself, and don't scare easily. There is a reason the BOT FAQ cautions against roaming around TJ without knowing what you're doing. It's dangerous. If it's dangerous to walk from CC to Manhattan Bar (which it is, IMO, despite the fact that I do it all the time), then going from the ZN to Titanic is dangerous too. Use some common sense. Don't go alone, and certainly don't go if you don't speak some Spanish. My words will probably be viewed as paranoid, and they won't stop adventurous people from going to LaMesa. I have no desire to stop anyone from having a good time. But it's irresponsible to portray LaMesa as some unique, special, hotbed of excitement. That's why I've been downplaying it for several years, despite Explorer's apparent penchant for raising questions about any and all inane subjects and then backing off to let others pick up the pieces. It's a tolerance zone like the ZN, but much smaller, with fewer ladies, and in a dangerous part of the city. Yes, you can get laid there, but there is no Motherload of hooker bars or beautiful women there that is any better (worse, actually, IMO) than in the ZN. Yes, it's a change of pace. But you have to decide how much risk you're willing to take simply for a change of scenery. Again, I don't have any desire to stop anyone here from having a good time. I hope everyone reading this comes to TJ and gets laid to their heart's content and has the time of their lives. I just don't want to read about you getting shot or stabbed in LaMesa, just because you had read one of these posts and thought that you could get something there you couldn't get in even the smallest dive in the ZN.
