Anything is preferable to the 405. The 710 is probably comparable to the 5 during rush hours. I was really talking about off-rush hours, say, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and after 7 p.m. I think during those times the 710 is a little less congested than the 5. Of course, it's all a matter of degree--really congested vs. really, really congested.
