It is their assigned duty and perogative to ask you certain basic questions EVERYTIME, and certain other questions if you have a bag, anything looks out of whack, or they just have hunch. Unlike you, I once served under the public auspice of wearing a badge and carrying a gun on official business in the public interest. This included working as an armed guard in "payroll banks" during my summer vacations from the university. I was authorized and instructed on proper procedure, and if shit happened to shoot to kill. They explicitly tell you that if it goes to shit, firing one shot at the target aint the end of story. Finish it with sustained fire. You did - at the border- and ever since - do EVERYTHING you could possibly do to precipitate confrontation. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. You acted, and got the mandatory reaction. Go piss and bitch about it somewhere else.
