A "puto" is a male prostitute, a "joto" (queer) who sells his ass "en la calle" (in the street)...It is considered quite insulting to be called such in the "land of macho". The women use this term because they think "gringos" are too "pendejo" (idiotic,stupid fuckheads) to figure it out. Your favorita would not like it if you walked up to her and said, " Que pasa, desgraciada mal nacida puta del mundo?" ( "How's it goin', you disgraceful, badly born whore of the world?"). When she calls you a "puto"...es muy acerca de la misma cosa... Most (but not all) of the women that work these bars come from rough and rude backgrounds. Many of them have limited communication skills and minimally developed intelligence. Hence their vocabularies can be quite limited in expressing their opinions and moods... KRICO |
