I think she should forget the phd and try to be the "Carlos Castaneda" of the tijuana hooker scene. Hell, some people still think Castaneda made everything up. She should do the research then make up a story how she lived as a hooker for a year. Might make a great book , it could be a basis for more anthropological studies in bankok, the phillipines etc.
