It is legal to bring it back. Almost all drugs are legal to bring back. US Customs has a web page that explains this.
I brought 5 Viagra tabs back one time and told Customs. They just asked me a few questions:
What were you doing in Mexico? F---ing whores.
How much did you pay for the Viagra? $55.
They searched my pack: condoms, camera, notebook.
End of Customs encounter.
In theory you can bring back a 30 supply of narcotics and it is US federal OK. However, SDPD can bust you under state laws.
