But this was exactly the point I was trying to make in my recent post. She professes to be so concerned about them poor dumb stupid mexican hookers, and yet we can't find one that ever heard of her. How much good can she really be doing for any of them? My view is she is a well-intentioned yuppie, but is probably a little bit blinded by her New England do-goody liberal culture, and is in fact really doing this "research" to make herself feel like a good, smart person, not really to "help" any of the girls (note, none of the chicas I know of have expressed any desire for help). I don't say this to be mean, but this is a common situation with people who set out with the best of intentions, but get sort of bushwacked by their over-riding need to feel that they are good people, set only towards helping others using their "superior" intellect. It is a simple consequence of our culture's slow but steady move towards socialism. It's not at all unexpected that this is most visible in the young. Socialism is the glorification of altruism. Again, her actions simply do not line up with her professed goals. Socialism/altruism is not about accomplishing anything, it's about feeling good about yourself.
