Cinco de Mayo is also a biggie here in Sacramento. Every grocery store has chips, beer, and canned refried beans on sale. I kind of get the feeling that this is another one of those holidays that was invented by some marketer to promote some commercial setup. And was adopted by certain "community leaders" to enhance their own positions of power (and fund raising abilities).
