If 98% of sex workers in Mexico City have at least one of the two types of herpes, I would find it hard to believe it is rare in TJ. But (correct me if I'm wrong) MC has a huge number of street girls, which are unregulated. That may go a long way towards accounting for the figure. So that doesn't mean the same or a similar situation exists in the zona. So are my favs lying to me? I have had conversations about disease with each of them at one point or another. All assured me that 1) they have no diseases and 2) they have never caught any disease in their time working in TJ (one has worked there 2 years). These are clean, intelligent, nice girls. Of course, they could be telling me a lie to keep me coming back, but studying their demeanor when they tell me, I tend to believe they are telling the truth. One cited her child as a major factor in her taking extra care to inspect the guy before doing anything. I will also add each told me they have returned money and left the room when it turned out the guy had symptoms of disease. But one fav told me she looks for where the symptom is, and if it will be covered by the condom, she will have sex with him. A common comment I received from them was "oh yes, I'm healthy, because I'm with the doctor." Of course the doctor cannot cure you if you have already contracted one of these diseases. Another told me that none of the girls at the clubs have diseases. Few seemed to realize there are diseases for which there is no cure. One girl did not know what herpes was. For my own safety, I always inspect the chica (in a nonintrusive manner) before forging ahead. So far, I have never seen a chica with obvious symptoms of anything. I know this is not foolproof, but until they invent a condom accessory that covers more skin, it's all I got. Occasionally, I do get body fluid from the chica on my unprotected skin around the condom, and of course this is the biggest risk. I usually jump in the shower and lather up, my last line of defense against any viruses that may have been in her fluid. After my dozens of trips to the zona, I sometimes wonder if I have a disease but don't know it. I have never had any symptoms other than a minor skin infection once, which the doctor dismissed as nothing to worry about.
