Which raises an interesting question. If we accept 70% of Americans have one or the other type. Now, I don't believe anything close to 70% of Americans get herpes outbreaks every month. So that means half or most of that 70% probably have or have had oral herpes, but never any symptoms. Is it a disease if it never manifests itself and you never have any symptoms? How can you really say you "have" it if you show no symptoms? It's in your body maybe, but there's lots of stuff in your body, and our immune systems just handle it. I assume I don't have herpes (and i mean genital) despite dozens of trips to the zona, because I have never experienced any symptoms. But I suppose it's possible the virus is in my body, but I'm just not expressing it. Now this is a scary thought, because I could get married someday, transmit it to my wife, and she might show lots of symptoms. Of course, there's no reliable test, so you never know if you have it or not. So you MIGHT have it, but no one knows, nor has any way of knowing. Does this all seem a little unreal to you?
