One of my lifelong heros has been Johnny Appleseed. The crazy like a fox guy who's responsible for many of the apple trees in the midwest. Well, in a tribute to "Juanito Semilla de Manzana" I've been planting a few seeds myself. I just got back from seeing my amiga especial and she is "muy contento" (very happy). One of the seeds took root and has sprouted into a magnificent beginning.

It all started with a local San Diego guy - Dr. Seuss.
I gave her a few books in both Spanish/English from Dr. Seuss to give to her preschool son . She's been reading them to him at night before he goes to sleep and has been amazed at how quickly he's picked up the story, the sounds, and an interest in reading. What a wonderful glow in her face as she relayed his latest request in English, "Read to me, mommy".

So if you'd like to plant a few seeds yourself, I highly recommend "El gato en el sombrercito" (The Cat in the Hat) and "Huevos Verdes y Jamon" (Green Eggs And Ham) by Dr. Seuss. I got them from Amazon.

Remembering Johnny.
Regards,
RickFeliz
