I'm not familiar with the Oceanside check point, but if you drive up the I-15, there is a checkpoint just at the Riverside county line. A few miles before you get to it, get off at 76 toward Pala, then make a left turn onto Pala road (about 5 mi). About 10 miles later you're in Temecula. Make another left at 79, and you're back on the 15 in no time.
