Part of what makes this even more difficult is the Mexican mentality of avoiding confrontation, trying to save face, and always being polite. I knew that when my favorita told me she had to leave by 11:30 one morning because she was meeting a guy for a "nooner" that I had reached a new level with her. Prior to that she would have had some excuse - meeting her friends, her family, take the car in for service, etc. Something that she felt would not "hurt my feelings". The Mexican philosophy of "what isn't said doesn't exist". So, realize that she may not have told YOU she was going on a trip with another guy BECAUSE she realized it would hurt your feelings. |
